I feel like transmogging from Cata should be mentioned. It opened up a whole new side of the endgame for casual players, that WoW hadn't seen before

I'd give Dual Spec for Wrath. At the time it didn't impact me too much, but as someone who's mained non-DPS for most of my time in WoW having the option to swap to DPS whenever I'm doing solo stuff has been huge.

And while the current system of swapping to any spec you want is even better, this was the first mention and deserves a shoutout.

The WoD/SoO feature should have been Flex raiding imo. Not being locked into strictly 10 or 25 and having the raid scale to match your group size is great.

One thing worth mentioning about Exile's Reach is that it is much more tuned for people who have never played a video game before in their lives. It covers basic camera controls, movement, and "turn around to hit an enemy behind you".

I've been running experiments on family & friends in the 60-70+ age range (none of whom have ever played any sort of game) and had them doing various games under supervision. They don't even have WASD down, and any sort of movement of their character seems to completely throw their spatial awareness out the window. Exile's Reach let them ease into the concept of navigating a 3D world, where it otherwise would've been totally overwhelming.

So yes, it's babyish and dull to anyone with really any degree of experience with games at all - but that's not what it's for. Veterans are going to blast through the tutorial no matter what anyway - but for an 11 year old? For a 70 year old? Pretty good.

I think Shadowlands best feature was actually the Tier Set Katalyst, because it fixed so many problems with tier sets and their transmogs in one go. First you finally could get tier set pieces from other sources then the raids with Mythic+. And you were able to even change items with no setbonus attached to tier sets, wich made it possible that every set has for every difficulty every gear slot available for transmogg, wich wasnt even the case up until legion. Also, sometimes the non set bonus items had better stats for your class. Also, awakend raids was a Shadowlands feature tho they were called fated

Classic - The levelling
BC - Heroic Dungeons
Wotlk - Dungeonfinder (yes I liked that back when I 14)
Cata - The Raids
Mop - The introduction of flexible Raids
Wod - New Character Models (even tho some look worse in my opinion)
Legion - M+
BfA - Nothing really, worst expansion
Shadowlands - Overhaul of the leveling experience
Dragonflight - New Talent trees
War within - As of right now, Warbands

Awakened raids were introduced in shadowlands 😂

Kind of weird that you put honorable mention of awakened raids for dragonflight, but no word about fated raids in shadownlads

Heroic dungeons were my favorite TBC addition personally, but you're right that the tier sets were banger after banger.

I agree with them all, but for shadowlands I would pick the creation catalyst. Being able to transform your gear from other sources into set pieces is awesome and I still can't believe that such a friendly idea came from the same period that brought us the maw

so the best feature for vanilla is the leveling because it's slow. and the best feature for WoD is the leveling because it's fast xD

Warbands, I didn't think it was a big enough thing to be marketed like it was. But since playing TWW it is legit one of the best changes blizz have ever made. Sure it took way too long but it still feels great.

Worst feature is boosting. Gold buying. Cheaters. Xp boosts. Tokens.

For TBC I would say the fact every Spec finally gets a tier set was the best.

The best feature of vanilla is that it doesn't feel like it has "features". It's a world that you live in.

"Features" are what you got when they removed the requirement to feed your pet as a hunter. Now it's not a pet, it's merely a dps mechanic. A "feature". Likewise, to the world, and the lost soul of it. They kill Azeroth with "features".

For me, the best was account bound mounts for Cata as it makes mount collection just a tad easier, less archiac.

Though I completely missed out on legion, I gave up one Draenor because wow it was tedius to pick up 2 quests and hike to the object for close to 10 minutes each and every time, hiking back and forth to do quests in the same area.
Oh and going into battle for azeroth to die to an enemy that farted on me, my equipment was outdated, even the quest equipment rewards were absolutely worthless because it felt like I wasn't getting new gear. Maybe my fault for not spending 20 hours getting gear in dungeons.

Chromie, what was chromie used for exactly? I used it and I was like "huh, nothing seemed to have change, like the equipment stat reduction is shit, enemies still killed me with a wet fart and all ground mounts I collected are worthless because I am already flying 20 hours from playing.

There was nothing new about mythic raiding. They took heroic, renamed it and set the fixed number of players to 20, a middle ground between 25 and 10.
During SoO mythic was still called heroic until the pre patch. Normal mode became the currrnt heroic, flex mode the new normal mode.

I'd also argue WoD's worst feature was the leveling rework. Was always able to recruit a friend to level through content in mop. With WoD onwards this completely stopped, friends quit during leveling. It got even worse since the addition of Exiles Reach.

Cata: Transmog
Panda: Flex Raids

My gripe with the warband character screen is that it from time to time automatically selects Aegwynn, which is a german server when creating a new character.
