Every WoW Expansion Ranked Worst To Best!

If you've been playing WoW for even a little bit, then you know that there have been a lot of expansions over the years. In this video, we're going through each and every expansion and ranking them from worst to best.

The complaint in original wow wasn’t how easy raids were (they really weren’t THAT easy anyways like Classic) it was organizing and keeping a 40 man raiding guild together!

TBC had all the engagement of vanilla but they actually straightened out the specs to be useful so pallies could actually tank and shaman could actually heal (my troll was dedicated resto). Definitely better gameplay than the wrath dungeon faceroll.

One small correction. I noticed at 8:35 you mention that Cata added the best playable race, which I agree with, but then you ended up mispronouncing "Worgen."
It's not a big deal. Just thought I'd let you know. Great tier list otherwise. I agree with you 100%.

If you (or any other person that loves WoW) were not there in 2007 to walk in portal for Outlands than i or anyone who expirienced it can’t even explain by words.
Its not just that expansion is good, but MOST important thing it was FIRST expansion ever, and gates to Outland on first day was the biggest PVP event to this day in WoW history.
Idk there is something magical that can’t be described by words.

Have to agree with this list. Burning Crusade is my favorite expansion. You still have the leveling experience as vanillia for the most part. There was no stupid aoe pulls when Heroics first came out. You literally needed to frost trap, sheep, or sap 1 or 2 mobs every pull or get your cheeks clapped. Such a great expansion.

Burning Crusade is unmatched, and it seems unlikely that it ever will be. To me it's almost not an expansion because it follows Vanilla in the best way possible. You enter a new world with new content, large open areas, badass lore, raids were amazing with iconic bosses from Warcraft 3, pvp exploded with the introduction of arenas and so on.. Also i feel like BC is the only expansion where everything goes smoothly and have a logical sequence compared to the previous version of the game and yet you have this feeling of discovering something new. TLK is a bit like that too but not as much as BC

Not sure why people so rarely weigh in class design in their rankings. It's almost always about progression, content, story and graphics style but no one talks about the gameplay itself. Weird... my rankings revolve mostly around class design, focusing, but not solely, on PvP and gameplay and feel as a whole:

1. WotLK - Vanilla but classes not feeling like their alpha versions anymore, great theme (unfortunately min-maxing culture and Blizzard's greed ruined it in its recent Classic rendition).
2. Vanilla - the worst class design by far but makes up with RPG elements and god, was it social - a true masterpiece, class design being its one single flaw.
3. MoP - peak class design for me, with all classes feeling bonkers good, although it was starting to stray away from the classic games, the theme was awkward and too much class design lead to homogenization.
4. TBC - felt like Vanilla but more refined, like a beta version of the game, after the alpha one, with a lot of the same positives, albeit not as pure, but a theme that was not really my thing.
5. Cata - that's when the game started to get dumbed down a little and modernized and it felt short for me, compared to the 3 classic games, but the class design wasn't as fleshed out as MoP's yet.
6. Dragonflight - I don't love the games from here on anymore, so this game is just meh... I guess class design has been brought up, even though there are too many passives and things going on on-screen, theming is a bit woke too, but overall - among all the newer games, this made the least amount of mistakes, I guess.
7. BfA - I can easily see why people who do mainly PvE would place Legion here, as one of the better modern games, but, for me, Legion had huge PvP flaws that I just couldn't ignore, so BfA is the next best thing. The game had already started being unpruned a little, though the corruptions and azerite did not felt good.
8. Legion - could have been higher up, if I only cared about PvE - the expansion felt like WoW had become Diablo 3, which was pretty addictive in its own way... but the prune hurt too much, just as much as in WoD, and the PvP templates made PvP feel awful for me, especially out in the world. The best themed game after Cata, though, even though that kind of Sci-Fi-ish theme is not my favorite one, as was the case with TBC.
9. WoD - barely any content, garrisons, modern Cartoon Network-styled graphics and the worst of all - everything was pruned to the ground, class design was obliterated. Gameplay-wise, the worst expansion of them all, for me.
10. Shadowlands - class design-wise it was better than WoD, Legion and BfA for me, but the systems they had in place in this game were truly predatory and atrocious.

I assume The War Within would fall between Cata and Dragonflight fore me, but only time will tell. Hopefully I'm wrong and it's even better.

This is weird. Back when i used to play the first expasions my bubble of players only talked about PvP. PvE was just to chill, do something different a couple of times. But nowadays 99.9% of WoW content is about PvE and Lore which i couldn't care less...

That really shows WoW PvP has been dead for years...

Wrath is always gonna be my favorite. The game only clicked with me once I did my first run of Ulduar. Once that happened, I immediately understood why WoW was as popular as it was. There were some good raids after that but nothing ever came close to that feeling of doing Ulduar for the first time.

I am casual private server player but from what I see players RATE
1. WOTLK
2. MoP is slightly below WotlK (it's highly praised expansion)
3. TBC - it introduced (Arena & Flying) also (Belfs and Draenei) KARAZHAN 2nd best raid in WoW.
4. LEGION - overall good expansion could've been better IMO.
- Me personaly I adore Vanilla for it's leveling and sheer immersion. I think it's much beter than the players give it credit for!!

I've only played pandaria and legion onwards. as someone who loves M+ (practically plays just for M+), BFA is top favourite, followed by legion, shadowlands and dragionflight. shadowlands had great story but very irritating with the transportation, boring world quests and some fundamental class changes (like arcane missles not being a proc spell and removing shimmer talent) . the only reason I dislike dragonflight more is because of how the talent selection changed, way too complex now. but yeah dragon riding makes much much better even with a boring story.
