Hello. If I were to use a gpu in a TVS-h1688x and assign it to virtualization station, if I ran a Windows virtual machine would I be able to use the gpu for a dual monitor setup (not a mirror but independent monitors in Windows). Thanks in advance.

Thanks for this info! If I want to do heavy encoding tasks (like exporting videos in Adobe Media Encoder), how can I optimize the speed for this? Any specific graphics card to use or is there a specific QNAP model with faster PCIe lanes that would be well suited for this?

Why does it say QTS mode and not QuTS Hero mode? That seems to say that the card will not work in QuTS Hero? Hoping for a quick response as I was just about to buy a GPU.

Great - I’ve been using a windows VM as a laptop replacement on the side of my desk. When I was setting it up I wasn’t really sure about how I’d connect it - would I use a Remote Desktop connection or whatever, and in that case would I need some small device to act as a thin client or whatever, but in the end it was just easy to plug the monitor I was using right into the gpu. Sounds obvious, but to me it wasn’t! Anyway, the vm with the gpu works really well.

Hi, thanks for the video. I have a question. In terms of the GPU and the QNAP devices, I have been looking into the 473a to install a GPU. I saw someone installing a P400 but this card according to the manufacturer PNY P400 is not compatible with this device because its a PCI 3x16, however, when I look at the the compatibility list I see other GPUS like the ZOTAC and MSI which are also PCI 3X16 so, my question is, this QNAP 473a has a 2 PCI slots PCIe 3x4, so, are the 3x16 cards supported. Manufacturers dont seem to answer the question. So, I am quite confused. Does the 473a support 3x16 lanes ? The CPU itself does according to the SPECs, since its a ryzen v1000 1500B, when looking at the specs it says that it supports a PCIe 3x16. What is the motherboard on the 473a ? Does it come with a motherboard or slot with 3x16 ? Or will this card be bigger.

I dont seem to find any cards that are PCIe 3x4 not even the ones advertised on the compatibility. There seems to be a lot of incongruence in the marketing or technical details of the equipment. One way to market, and one way to use.

Thus, I am sorry for the rant, but, its quite upsetting that one can not get a straight answer.

My guess is that if the other cards, 1050, 1030, 1650 are 3x16 then a P400 from PNY or other brands should be accepted.

My other question how does a 1650, 1030 or the like compare to a J4125 --> present in the 453D.

I feel that new releases highlight great "possibilities' but hinder reality in someways. I wish things were more transparent. When I look at synology, and I see their specs, they seem more transparent.

Hi all, can anyone share their experience running a game using GPU passthrough? My use case is using a 1688x with 64GB of ram and Win10 (hoping for Win11 soon :)) and want to use the VM for daughter to play Stray. I don’t really have a PC that’s readily available as I’m a Mac user and don’t want to let her use my machine in Bootcamp mode. Looking for any info anyone can provide about gaming with the h/w I have (or similar).
