I learned to NEVER doubt my own feelings even if everyone else is telling me differently. Including my mother.

I have learned to always listen to your instincts, don't ignore the red flags, and not to make up "reasons" for their behavior. Trust in yourself. And don't be charmed or flattered by the huge personality. It's the quiet, tender love that is genuine...not the overwhelming one.

I learned to:
-validate myself,
-not explain, defend or justify, and
-not care what they think.

What I've learned dealing with them: There's truly an unexplainable evil in this world & in many of its people, being aware of it is a matter of self-preservation.

I was raised by a narcissist and my sibling is a narcissist too. What they have taught me is that the only things I want in life are love, healthy communication, respect and peace.

biggest thing i learned is to believe what people show you, the first time. definitely no later than the second time.

don't romanticize the potential good in people - they will treat you exactly how they feel about you.

treat people fair, but not at the expense of your mental well-being.

I learned it is my right to walk away, without explanation, from toxic, dysfunctional people, rather than trying to get them to treat me better. And that Dr. Ramani is a blessing to those who have suffered for far too long. ❤❤❤

Something not addressed in this video that I learned from my experiences with narcissists is to let go of the need for closure. That need can keep you spending mental and spiritual energy on a relationship that never will have a satisfactory resolution. Cut yourself free, forgive yourself for getting mired in a situation that hurt you, and turn your back and walk away. Some things will never make sense, and some stories don't get a resolved ending. (I've become convinced that the need for closure is the need for permission from outside yourself to move forward.)

They taught me that I’m a survivor and that I’m very stable. I was put through living hell and never turned to drugs, alcohol, taking it out on others, or self deleting. I learned to recognize a narcissist easily and to never get entangled. I also learned that society is now swarming with narcissist.
And I learned that Dr. Ramani is a gift to the good and empathetic people of the world.

I’m still healing. Slowly. But so far I have learned, I am stronger than I ever imagined. That’s a gift that I can pass on to my daughter and help her not repeat my mistakes.

My biggest takeaways from being in a relationship with a narc is:

1) I now know what love isn’t.

2)I value myself more and I know that I deserve a healthy loving relationship.

3) I will never pour so much of myself into someone that much and it’s not being reciprocated.

4) I know that I’m enough and I have alot to offer and I will never dim my light for anyone ever again.

I learned to not let the Narc know too much about what I was doing (TMI). Any info they have about you, they will use against you.

My mum taught me that it was ok to let the people treat me like crap, so long as they tell me they love me. My ex taught me that love isn't a magic wand that makes everything better. I've cut both of them out of my life and learned that I should be loved and deserved to be loved no matter what and to stop seeking validation outside of myself.

The narcissist taught me to stop lying to myself. He wasn't more powerful than me however, I gaslit myself in believing he was...with his help of course. When I finally listened to my true self, I could see his true nature and how I was an active participant. I embraced the truth that I deserved to treat myself well but couldn't do that around him. I left and ever since have devoted all of my time, love, resources, and space, to just me. One of THE best decisions to date.

I learned I am in control of how people treat me. I don’t have to stay around them and beg them to treat me right. I can leave. It’s my decision.

I've learned that they are some of the most emotionally chaotic people on the planet. The pendulum of, "I hate you, f**k off, " "I love you, please help me fix this" is whiplash inducing. What you said about narcissists putting US in therapy is 100% true!

What I’ve learned was that no matter how long you stay in the relationship with the narc, the worst it gets. You may think that your already devalued and discarded while hoping thinks could change because you love them, but the real final discard is the worst part because that’s when they will treat you like you don’t even exist and every attempt you try to make at trying to make it work would do nothing more but irritate the narcissist. Kinda like a horror movie where the person turns into a zombie and their behavior becomes demonic and your forgotten in a split second. That’s what I learned. But good thing is now I know what to expect with a narc and I don’t want any part of it ever again. My heart goes out to anyone who is in a narc relationship and trying to get out.

I have learnt a huge amount from studying and experiencing narcissism... Studying how people hurt others teaches me how to be a good person. For example, I've learnt that invalidation is a surprisingly powerful way to hurt people. So whenever I can, I make sure that I validate people's difficult experiences. And the reactions I've had from doing that, is incredible, it's like giving water to a person in a desert.

I learned that if I don’t like the treatment I receive by a partner, that I can accept that is who they are instead of try to help them change, I just leave. I leave and i tell them why as I do it. And I don’t look back no matter how bad it hurts me. We control our vessels and who has access to it, we don’t let the vessel control us and certainly not other people.
