In a fun, excited talk, teenager Henry Lin looks at something unexpected in the sky: galaxy clusters. By studying the properties of the universe's largest pieces, says the Intel Science Fair winner, we can learn quite a lot about our own world and galaxy.

I went to middle school with this guy. He is in fact the smartest individual I've had the privilege of knowing. He even had his own day at school called "Henry Lin Day".

Henry Lin is so young, yet already a scientist, maybe an educator, aaaand is the Intel Science Fair winner!

6:00, "We, as a society, are faced with many, many difficult problems. The solutions of these problems are not obvious. They are not faster horses. They will require an enormous amount of scientific ingenuity... Innovation, ingenuity, inspiration!" I concur!

It's like before he went on stage they prepped him "don't worry about the audience, our real audience is online"
What sounds like a cheer track at the end was probably his classmates at the speech.

What a great speaker! He is young but able to invoke curiosity and engage the audience! Can feel his enthusiasm resonating. Hope he succeeds in his field

He is a very good speaker, and makes a good argument for the study to understand the world around us.

This kid seems like he's got a good mindset. It's very comforting to know that youthful people are also trying to expand their understanding of our universe. One thing I have pondered is how he was talking about galaxies being scaled down universes. I totally agree with this, in fact, everywhere one looks there is an example of a scaled down universe. Even each and every individual is a scaled down model. How? Check out that picture he had of the complex mapping of the universe, then google a picture of brain nuerons.. it would appear that we are merely a fractalized version of the universe we live in.. perhaps the embodiment of it; the universe conscious of itself, yet unable to understand nor see what's inside, except by looking outward into the cosmos, and even here close to home. perhaps.. this is all just a silly hypothetical thought.:]

The universe is absolutely amazing.
We need more bright heads to expand our knowledge!
The exploration of the universe should be our number one priority (besides preserving our beautiful blue planet)!

I can honestly say that the way this talk was presented by this young man was impressive: great voice controlling, great body language, great eye contact, and most importantly the exciting content of the lesson: What Can we Learn from that magical big big universe!
Thank you!

He's so cute when he got excited about what he was talking about :) The Universe is just SOO huge. It hurts to think about it at times, but at other times - it makes me appreciate being alive - being able to experience and be apart of this gigantic space.

I'd hate giving a speech in front of such an audience..  he's trying his best to share his passion with folks that don't look very interested in it

Even though the "faster horses" quote has been often attributed to Henry Ford, there is no record of him having ever said it.

I liked the context "when we step back, when we zoom out"

I wonder if the galaxy clusters find us useful?
