Hey friends! I’m going to start doing monthly livestreams at the beginning of every month! The first one will be this Sunday (2/4) at 10AM PST and will be right here on my YouTube channel. I’ll be announcing some new things I’m starting, updating y’all on my life, with a Q&A at the very end. Hope you can make it!

The way you communicate everything is so great! I feel like I’m having a conversation, and not just watching a video. Thanks for having this channel! Its one of the many inspirations I had that made me decide to go back to school and study software engineering!!

The fact that you manage to get 77k subscribers in 6 months is incredible! keep it up! luckily i didnt need a degree.... i was teaching myself to be a web dev but then the company i was doing tech support for needed a C# dev and the trained me up. i was extremely lucky to have that opportunity! in my opinion the best thing to do is build up your portfolio! college is helpful of course :)

I never comment on youtube videos but your videos have been really helpful/inspiring. I've been in the job hunt/interview process for the past 2 months and your bits of info have made interviewing for the big companies a little less scary. I'm on the final stretch of interviews/salary negotiations so thanks!

I'm in between computer science and computer engineering. It's funny because my dad's youngest sibling did computer science and my mom's youngest sibling did computer engineering! I've always been a huge tech enthusiast. Only just recently have I been dabbling here and there with programming. I'm only 13 and so I'm not really stressing about what I want to do when I reach college, especially since I want to enter the tech industry and everything will probably be quite different once I actually get out of school. I'm starting my first day of high school on February 1, wish me luck 😅

Mayuko is so much more helpful than anyone I've talked to in a job fair or academic advising office. I already feel more confident about finishing school with my major.

I quickly realized that anything too heavy in math isn't for me. I also struggled a lot with learning how to code. After talking to my advisors and learning more about the Tech world as a whole, I settled with pursuing an I.T. degree with a concentration in Network Management (routing & switching) and Cyber Security. My community college classes are also meant for training us to pass certification exams (CCNA, A+, Security+, Red Hat Sys Admin, Microsoft certs, etc). They also have classes on I.T. Management too. The I.T. field is huge and certainly has something for everyone.

Wonderful post. I majored in Computer Science and added additional crap to my curriculum as were not included in the base to help towards where I wanted to go. The questions you stated that one should ask and ponder are SO important! Great info. Knowing where one wants to go or work for will help select the best major, but they don't offer everything so might need to add more like I did. In addition, none offer everything so additional post graduate education/courses etc might be needed.

On a university I've graduated we had 5 specialisations (I think it's the same as majors in USA) to choose from. We had computer graphics, software and systems engineering (advanced courses in web dev, mobile dev, databases), IT systems in production and administation (designing software, implementing systems, workflow, some software security), Intelligent systems (machine learning, semantic and neuron webs, natural language processing) and IT in medicine. I've graduated in Intelligent systems, I'm currently looking for a job and we'll see where it gets me.

Have a great day :-)

Never knew what to study in college so I picked one that's really close to home, seemed the least boring and had good job prospects.
After a while I realized I really didn't want to do it and after like 3 years I was about to drop out (falling behind a lot too, due to lack of genuine interest in the subject), but I now have a chance to do a minor in game design. Which is the first time I'm kinda excited to learn stuff :-) Starts next week and right now I'm just trying to get a basic understanding of programming and 3d sculpting.
Hope it'll be awesome and that I'll be able to do something in that brache one day (soon).

I have a degree in technical management. Right now I am getting a master in organizational leadership. I am studying now to become Linux Engineer Exams. I didn't really start working with computers until I was 30. Right now I am 43 work from home freelance and have a full-time job at a local college. Its never too late to learn about engineering. Great videos.
