Hello, in this video, we are going over an old tired, beat-up, stained cementitious color coat finish applied over a retaining wall.

We are pressure washing with at least 3,500 PSI to remove all the dust, dirt, and grime.
Note: After the wall is immaculate, “this means absolutely, No dust, dirt, grime or moss.”
Then it’s time to roll or brush on the stucco acrylic primer with your choice of acrylic stucco primer.
After the wall or home is primed, you are ready to apply the stucco acrylic finish coat.

We used Stucco-Flex, in this video, or as they call themselves, Stuc-O-Flex.

What is an Acrylic color finish that’s used for resurfacing stucco walls?
Good question. It’s like rubber mixed with sand and color pigments.

Remember that acrylic stucco sticks to everything, so you must cover the ground well; however, no stucco acrylic stucco will adhere to a dusty surface, at least not forever. I mention this often as I get many calls saying that Kirk, the plastering company that applied my stucco finish less than a year ago, is now coming off help.
There is much prep work involved in acrylic refinishing over stucco walls. Allow this video to be your guild.

This video demonstrates and explains how to apply acrylic stucco by hand. These are maintenance-free colored finishes over an existing stuccoed retaining wall.

Not only does this application require extreme troweling on pressure, but as I was floating, I had to push as hard as I could to fill all the voids with this glue-like acrylic because the existing finish was a heavy dash finish.
At the end of this video, my own wrist and forearms were tight as a drum and a bit tired, which is indeed rare.

Stuc-O-Flex Elastomeric Acrylic Finish provides a protective weathering membrane in a pre-colored, extremely durable, fade and mildew-resistant coating.

My pal Dan Johnson who works with Stuc-O-Flex is the man to call.
Dan’s an expert with all Stuc-O-Flex stuccos and stucco acrylics.
His number is 425 885-5085.

My daughter Madeline had to use both hands towards the end of this wall as the strength needed was a bit too much. She has been teaching English in Spain for the last year and lost some wrist strength.
Use it or lose it, we used to have fun here, plus the owner was a nice fella.

Sponge floats make it look wavy. Plastic floats and a trial for a scraper is best method in my opinion. And I learned how to float pretty damn good in under a year

Mr. Giordano, I was just curious, did you learn how to do, what you do, from your father or grand-father? It is good to see that there are still real old-world craftsmen in this country. Thank you for sharing with us all.

Really enjoy your videos. have tackled several project from building furniture, plumbing, electrical irrigation install just about anything around the house getting ready to do fascia and soffits. But, i think for stuccoing the house I will leave it to a professional at least now I will understand how, it is done, what kind of finish i like, and what questions to ask. thanks
