This is how I do things too! Everything gets done eventually, but it takes me three times as long as I thought it would 🙁 I've no diagnosis but the more I learn, the more I wonder...

ADHD cleaning tip: make a “goes somewhere else” pile while cleaning. It’s a pile for everything you come across that needs to go in another room while you’re cleaning. Instead of taking those dirty cups to the sink and then getting distracted by remembering I need to do the dishes, I sit them in the doorway of the room. Once I’m completely done cleaning the room I take whatever is in my pile (dirty cups, trash, etc.) and then spend some time going around the house putting everything up where it belongs. I try to avoid leaving a room when I’m cleaning so I don’t get distracted as much. Putting your “goes somewhere else” pile in the doorway acts as a physical barricade to keep you from leaving, and when your done cleaning it means you won’t forget your pile of random things because you literally have to step over it to leave the room.

I feel a little better knowing others are the same type of crazy as I am when it comes to chores.

Setting a timer and focusing only on one task is surprisingly effective for me. Especially when I discover the task takes way less time than I anticipated.

I absolutely feel this 😅 my house is full of half-done, and barely-started, tasks 😖

ADHD tip: I write the tasks down first so I don't have to keep them in my head. Then I put a reminder for everything like preparing breakfast and getting the kid. Also hubby and I finish each other's left over tasks.

Thank you for making me realize I’m not alone. Trying to explain to my family what having ADHD is like is soooo hard.

This is how I clean. I get so many things done! It takes me all day, but I get EVERYTHING done. I like it

Wow...this makes my heart hurt. I can almost feel the struggle, the anxiety, the uncertainty of the whole day. It's like revisiting an old place or time, years ago. Thank God, it's gone. I'm sorry your going through this.

As a fellow ADHD gal I have a few tips that really help me. First, make a schedule (daily and weekly) and once you get in the routine for a while you will have less need for the schedule. Second, start things like laundry first thing. As coffee is going or when you let the pups out, something that you know you will do but don't have to give it your full attention. Set alarms to remind you of things that need done at a certain time but give yourself a little extra time (kids get out at 3 set it for 2:30) and lastly, don't procrastinate anything bc the longer you go without doing it (a single dish you just used) the more likely it is to get piled up (a pile of dishes). ADHD can be so overwhelming but tiny things can help you so much throughout your days.

I always do chores while listening to music. It kinds of mute my thoughts and allows me to focus better. Classical music is the best kind for focus.

I actually never knew this was adhd. This is exactly what I'm like, as well as having to do stuff in a certain order, I end up being late for everything all the time no matter how much I try not to be, it's exhausting. I go through phases of not being able to sit still to crashing and not being able to do anything (I'm not in great health anyway) but I never knew this was even a thing🤔

So true! My husband gets irritated thinking I have done nothing all day when in reality, I did hundreds of things, but only finished 2 non-essentials. Squirrel!

As someone who suffers with ADHD, OCD and many other mental health issues, this is so on point😂

I do this! Laundry and dishes are endless. Adding your children to the mix takes the situation with completing tasks to a more complicated distracted level.

Holy Crap!
Is this ever Me!
When I was a kid, ADHD & ADD were never recognised.
Now I know, why I have such trouble focusing on one task at a time.
I just thought life was and interconnected series of unstoppable 'Squirrel Moments'.
