Jess forced Rory to look at the situation when she refused to. He held her accountable like her mom did, but Rory was ready to hear Jess.

Jess didn’t have high expectations or hopes for himself, not for a long time. Being with Rory, living with Luke, was part of why he started to have confidence and ambition. Hence why seeing Rory completely lose those things made Jess so mad.

So well-written and well-played. All the interactions w/ other characters are complex and drive storylines forward.

Although I think Logan becomes a better person later in the series, I think it would have made more sense for Rory to dump him soon after this episode and have Jess more present in the series as either a really good friend or a potential rekindling romance. Like how he left her earlier in the series was awful but this grown up Jess is able to actually make her see reality. The break up with Logan should not have had to do with cheating but a realization the relationship was not a healthy one.
