American Gold Eagles vs All Other Gold Coins

I recommend American Gold Eagles a lot over any other gold coin. But I also buy other things, and the question of why I try to stick to AGEs comes up a lot. I'm going to give some reasons why I recommend Eagles but continue to buy other 24K and foreign gold coins as well.

NOTE: I am not a financial planner. I'm just a guy on the internet, talking about precious metals. Always do your own research before buying gold or silver.

Just ordered my first gold coin thanks to watching your videos (which has me obsessed lol). I only bought a 1/4 Gold American Eagle to start with. Someday I plan to keep moving up the ladder and collect 1/2 and full ounce as well.

As you say, Eagles and Buffalos are the best for USA residents.

The world is a big place, 2, in Canada, AGE's are taxed whereas 999 gold is not, so AGE's are not very popular. The Buffalo, on the other hand, is my main bullion piece. Also, thanks to my coin shop connection, there is a myriad of possibilities.

UK here, I agree, seem to be in a similar position, I''ve got some groups within my gold stack that could sell in 4 lots as I've picked up whatever was priced well at the time, Eg lots could be bars, sovereigns, quarter oz 24 carat, 10th oz 24 carat.

Had I had the choice locally to pick up only sovereigns though I would have done that being based in the UK. I think sovs in the UK are easily the most recognisable and also pretty low premium yet still easily divisible, whilst I like the slight variety I have I'd be happy with a tube of sovs of equal value, I do prefer the look of the 24 carat though to the 22,

It's Gold 🔥! I like them all !
The Double Eagle was my 1st and will always hold a spot .

But there are some pretty dang beautiful Gold coin's out here now.

So i will take what i can get .
Typically, my budget is a 1/4 ozt.
So that is primarily what's in stock on the shelf is what I get .

💯 to your channel and I always try and listen to what you say to maybe help myself get to a better position in life for my wife & kid's to a better life and change the generational position.

Thx. 2is1 and 1 is none.

For me, only AGE's are in my bullion stack. (1 tube of 1/10oz completed, and half way to finishing a tube of 1oz) - I will occasionally pick up other types of gold, but those are just for collecting/trading, etc...(or simply to look at for awhile before moving to something else)

Im from DK. Pop coins here are a mix of both 22 an 24 ct. Philharmonics, Krugs, Maples, Australian/British coins
Huge premiums on Eagles/Buffalos

The longer I collect gold the more I like American Eagles. Aesthetically, I still prefer the Buffalo, but I like your consistent message of how easy it is to sell the Eagles. But the Eagles have grown on me. Love your old videos as well as the new ones! 😄 Have a good weekend!

I love the britannias and the Mexican coins. But lately, during the high cost of gold, I've been buying half ounces, and I've been doing pretty good. I've been getting half ounce of American gold eagles. I got 1 for 1340. That was kinda high, and then I got another American Eagle, 2024. First print and I got that for 13 0 5 last night. That was a heck of a steal. If you ask me $55 over spot for an American Eagle, first print.

In 🇺🇸 so I looked around and chose American Gold Eagles because fractional choices and simplest choice. Pre-33 seemed to add a layer of complexity with numismatic angle. If I was in Canada, I’d probably be doing Maple Leafs.

Its funny you have partitioned stack categories. I have a fun collectors segment as well. Liquidity and piece continuity are definitely factors if your intention is to sell at some point down the road. My Buffalo's and Eagles are not for sale, not at any price. From my perspective, holding the physical wealth is more than half the fun. My stack will be imparted to my son eventually, albeit after he's received sound financial education from his father and mother.

In uk most people just buy sovereigns. Half and full sovereigns. It was popular to mount a sovereign on a gold chain as a necklace or a bracelet. The sovereign most common would be 1/4 ounce of gold. I honestly have never seen gold eagles or the buffalo gold coins. I’ve spent the last 50 plus years on and off looking at coins on my travels. Gold is normally out of the reach of most people. I recall Dubai airport though had a collection of gold coins and bars that previously I’d never seen before.
Silver commemorative coins from royal mint are more common in uk 🇬🇧.I have seen a few South African krugerrands but always small like the 10 ounce.
I enjoy your presentation on the gold coins. I love the look of those buffalo gold coins. In uk I honestly think it would always be easier to buy sell trade 1/4 ounce coins rather than the larger ones you have. That’s only my uneducated humble opinion. Great videos. Keep up the good work. Thanks. Greetings from Northern Ireland. 👍

A very informative video. I like the comparison of different types of gold coins. In the past I had found myself looking, with the intention of buying a 1/4AGE and would get side tracked to the lesser priced .23 oz Brit sovereigns ....lawd, I had to pull myself to get back on track,
