I prefer Eagles, but my next purchase will be a Buffalo just because I'd like to have one to hold and look at.

I just wish they'd start doing fractional buffalos again. I think it'd be the most popular coin to buy today but it'd be nice to have a security feature on them since they'd be easily counterfeited

I love both coins, but my preference on purely esthetic grounds is the gold Buffalo. I absolutely LOVE that design, but I do agree that the Gold American Eagle does have the minor advantages mentioned in the video. I have held both in hand and just enjoyed the look and feel of the Buffalo a wee bit more. Such a fabulous bullion coin and a great tribute to the classic Buffalo Nickel!

Buffalos are beautiful. The color of the metal and the design are just awesome. Then again the gold eagle is much more sturdy so you can hold it in your hand without a capsule. I say get some of each.

Have to say the Buffalo slightly edges out the AGE because of its 24kt composition and better overall look.I have found that traveling internationally with these and selling that they are top tier and highly desirable, always gotten well above what I pay when sold abroad

i really want the mint to make 1/4oz gold buffalos again. though i'd like to see them in the gold eagle composition.

Another good point of conversation here is the pros/cons to finishes available, proof /reverse proof/ uncirculated/ burnished etc.

I wish the mint would make at least a 1/2 oz Buffalo as well. I'd even like a 1/4 oz too. :)

Both, but i like eagles for fractional and not having to worry about capital gains tax, but the buffs with beauty and fineness

Eagle., because its sexier. Just not a fan of design, in silver either.

Hello Speg, I hope you are having a super excellent weekend, pure gold is always the best where I live, any gold that’s not pure in Australia incurs extra GST tax, if I lived in America I would pick the eagle 👍

When I started buying gold over a decade ago, both Eagles and Buffalos were going for $80 to $100 over spot while anybody with a slightly creative mind could buy Maples for $40 to $50 under spot (yes under). I could never justify the premium for either US coin but still bought some along the way when they (rarely) went on sale and the premium was more in line with other coins.

I like the Brittanica and Maple Leaf for their security features.

People are still not getting that the Eagle actually **weighs more** than the Buffalo because of the added copper-silver alloy. That is why it can contain an ounce of pure 24k gold even the though the coin is 22k. Also, the purpose of the added alloy is to greatly increase the **durability** of the coin—that’s the primary reason it is there, not to change the color or to act as a counterfeit deterrent.

I collect both the Eagle and Buffalo’s 7 and 7 (plus 7 oz of fractional ✊)

well i bought a 2014 Canadian 1/10th ounce 5 blessings this month and i couldn't be happier with it oh and it's .9999 they didn't have any eagles they had this, a maple, and a krug but i had to get this one cause i'd never seen it before there's also only 2000 minted

Eagle it’s edges are equal, it’s higher quality than the Buffalo due to the softness of the Buffalo and they stack evenly

I like both, but its buffalo for me. I see it as if I'm trying to barter or sell it to someone who's unfamiliar with the two, one would be more hessitant to take the not pure vs pure.
But then, you can explain to them that the eagle has more metal value with silver and copper added 🤔
I just like to keep it simple.

Here's my vote:
22 - American Gold Buffalos
3 - American Gold Eagles
Love the Buffalos but will probably add some more Eagles down the road.
