Thank you Coach. I came upon this confusion. Kettering has the same explanation as you, but RT Zone totally confused me. I'm going with Kettering.

Hi Joe, I have an quenstion, Can bad lung rule apply to unilateral perfusion issue? for example: Patient with left pulmonary embolism. and my goal is optimse the V/Q matching. Can I use Bad Lung Up rule in here.
I'm looking forward to hearing back from you, Thank you so much!

Hi thank you this was so helpful. My lecturer wrote this is my workbook? Does this mean she is incorrect- please help? -VQ mismatch – positioning to optimise ventilation/perfusion. Normally side lying with the “good” lung upmost (this allows the lung to full expand so more effective oxygenation and more blood in the bad lung to capitalise on any oxygen there).

You made a nice Video. I understand about good lung down for postural drainage . But what about the positioning to improve VQ in affected lung, Good lung down or good lung up ? Thank you :)

Hi! Thank you for this amazing video! I have got a question, what position would you use for a patient with right lower lobar collapse + secretions on the left lower lobe? She cannot be placed head down tilt

So what i'm understanding is that you're saying whatever lung has the consolidation you would want to put them on the opposite sides lateral decubitus. Correct?
