The IT band is a big band of connection tissue that runs along the outside of the thigh and attaches to the knee. When it is restricted it can cause both hip and knee pain.
Most people will pull out there foam roller and crank on the band, but this is not only painful, but ineffective!
This video goes over why this isn't a good idea and what to do instead.

Had it band issues for a few months.. seemed to finally get beyond them only to then have medial knee pain same side... was told I had micro tears in the medial meniscus... no imaging done to verify... told to use same pt exercises as for it band... knee is starting to chill out... been a long winter... thank you !

shear work from a one knee position I found is quite effective. Cumulatively sneaking up on the IT tension

I had knee surgery have had IT band issues on and off . Will give this a try, thanks ☘️ I did have some myofascia done to the other knee area, after a bad injection

Thanks ! Was just looking at your video you posted 3yrs ago about this . In that video you were using a small ball ( tennis) and some small stick looking item. Quad stretch the same. My question. What’s the difference between the two videos in reference to the information provided? Thanks 🙏🏿

I am recovering from a right knee miniscus surgery ... Foam rolling the IT band I find a lot more relieved after my trainings. My physio said to foam roll the IT band with the roller which has pressure points. .first it used to hurt ...but now it doesn't . Just wanted to know .is it bad to foam roll the IT band or we should nt foam roll when that part becomes really stiff and causes lot of pain when we foam roll
