Again this was more because of being raised by Viserys, who gave her bias that the Starks are no good.

just a reminder that daenerys in the books is a 13 year old who was raised by her barely older brother viserys (who, notably, went mad.) everything she believes about westeros she was taught from him, and he was only 8 when his entire family was murdered.

This should mainly be contextualized by the first few pages of her story: confused memories, doubt, propaganda, abuse, indoctrination, delusions of grandeur. That's what she grew up with. Selmy can't fix that in the span of a conversation, especially when she's already queen. She's also 14 years old. It's terrifying but also understandable.

I love that whenever Barristan speaks hes being like "girl no, listen people habe been telling some bullshit. Your dad was insane"

He should have told her what Ned wanted done to the mountain. About Ned’s dislike of the Lannisters.

- Is that also a red flag?

Mad king killed 2 starks the father n son and they expect the starks to fold their arms and bow to the tagariens, the starks were right to join the rebellion.

Feel like no one is bringing up how Jorah hated the starks as well and told her how terrible they were.

This show how importance ser Barriston is. He's the only man in the world holding memories about her family, He could guide her not to be bad like the Mad king, and be noble like Rhaegar

Starks has a reason to hate the targ tho. Brandon was choked to death while watching his father, Richard burned by Aerys. Lyanna was thought to be kidnapped and raped by rhaegar. The Stark has every right to raise their swords against Aerys.

do feel like mentioning that her dad murdered Ned’s father and brother in cold blood, but Ned still stuck up for Dany because he can separate a person from the actions of their house.

An important part I think is missing from this video is that Dany ALSO has an unreasonably rosy picture of her family members like Aerys and Rhaegar. She asks Ser Barristan for just the good parts of her father's reign (and is explicitly not ready yet to hear the bad parts about him), she is disappointed when he doesn't have many stories of her brother winning jousts or tournaments, and quite bluntly wonders what must have been wrong with Rhaegar's wife Elia to make her brother chase after Lyanna Stark.

She's a 15-year-old girl who was raised by her brother for almost all her life to believe that their family was rightfully above other men who had a "biased" education about why Robert and the Starks rebelled and how her family was in the wrong. She never brings up how Ned's brother and father were unjustly executed by her father.

In short, since she doesn't fully realize the problems with her family and their actions towards the Starks, it's not exactly a surprise that she is unreasonably biased against the rebels.

I like how she ignores her father, burning Starks like the mad king was at a cookout

Well, She was 14 years old child who was constantly said that her entire family was murdered brutally and their right to the Throne was usurped by the New Baratheon King. According to her point Robert and Jaime were the reasons of why she and her brother lived their whole life in the misery and while all of them were happening, the honorable Ned Stark and other Starks were one of the biggest alliance of hım and they were primarily responsible ones for the downfall of her dynasty. Of course she hated them.

Completely Valid Point from her POV imo. She only knows what her Brother and Jorah told her about Ned. We can’t expect her to feel different because we know the full story and she obviously not

This is the best example of why the first Meeting in the Books between Daenerys and the Starks will play out vastly differently than in the show.

She doesn’t know enough about Westeros to hate them. Her world view is largely shaped by what her narcissistic abusive older brother told her again and again.

She even says, in the vid, ‘Viserys used to call them-‘
🚶🏾‍♂️

The thing that Daenerys never understood was that HER FATHER betrayed the people first, once that happens then all contracts are broken
