Selective Attention Test

I saw all of the changes.

Mainly because I was looking for them. After the basketball one I don't fall for these anymore.

I had one job which was to observe the cups.

The other stuff is irrelevant.

I noticed the duck; that was the easy one knowing this was a selective attention test.

I also noticed the color change, but that's mostly because the green and yellow cups are too similar. If you use a different color like perhaps brown, I may not have noticed.

The fifth hand was completely out of my mind. It did seem like hands were covering a lot of the screen sometimes, but I figured that was normal (which it is).

I also followed the chocolate easily enough with just my peripheral vision while I tried to focus on everything at once. I suspect moving things more quickly would enhance the illusion.

That was fun!

I didn’t see the hand, the duck, or realized the colors switched.




And I also didn’t even guess the cup right

I didn’t lose track of the chocolate, but I missed the duck and the hand. I did however notice the blue cups being swapped for green ones. Which is probably only because I have seen videos about selective attention before, so I was expecting something like that to happen. This is very interesting!

I read the title and was so focused on catching the background stuff that I ended up loosing track of the chocolate.

I actually feel so proud of finding 2/3 changes, probably because I notice colors very easily so as soon as the duck and the cup changes happened I did notice even if I wasn’t really looking. I did not see the 5th hand though since it has the same color as all the other ones so I didn’t see any difference

I had a test like this one time during onboarding at a factory (don't do it, it's not worth it)
Wherein there was a video where a couple of balls were thrown between two teams, and you had to track one.
Well, everyone in the room tracked the ball, myself included.
However, what everyone else failed to notice is that the background color changed, one of the left team members swapped out, and a guy in a gorilla costume walked in the background.

The guy overseeing the test talked to me afterward and said that there were like 4 other things I missed, but not to feel bad become in the 5 years he'd been doing that test I was the only one to notice the background color changing 😄 I was quite proud of that.

As someone with adhd, I'm very proud of myself for following the chocolate and ignoring the random stuff.
