Attention experiment : distorted faces

Shocking what happens when we are not paying full attention. You won't believe your eyes. Faces become totally distorted.

Kinda interesting how the faces distort because your peripheral vision isn't that good. I wonder if that's the reason why "uncanny valley" faces spook humans so much.

The more I zone out, the crazier the faces get. If I focus my attention slightly to the left of the red dot, I start seeing the faces on the left almost perfectly mirrored in the center.

This is so weird, because at first the faces just distorted and looked kinda odd and even cartoonish, but then after a few more seconds, they started to lose features entirely. Like, their eyebrows would disappear, then their eyes, then their nose and that's when I got a little freaked out.

jesus christ they actually turn really terrifying if you never look at them. they sometimes have their eyes merged, their eyebrows look weird, and sometimes their skin tone changes, among other things
