What do you do with your waste oil and fats? Let me show you a more environmentally friendly way of getting rid of that old oil so it doesn't block your drain pipes and get into our river systems!

What about just waiting till the jar is full then digging a hole in the back yard and tipping the oil in and burying it? Then you can wash the jar and use it again. That can't be any worse than the jar going into landfill which in turn will end up in the ground anyway wouldn't it? Just a thought :)

Where do you throw away your jars of oil?

Sadly where I live we have to recycle all of our glass and plastic jars. Instead, I soak it up with paper towel and put it in the garbage (or rubbish).

In some countries supermarkets were collecting oi waste and sent them for recycling and making biofuels.Hotels, restaurants, bars and other food service outlets do the same.Some of this oil might even return back to us, paying it twice

GREG!! try this recipe, its called the cookie in a CUP.
the ingredients:
•1 Tablespoon Butter
•2 heaped tablespoons of sugar
•4 drops of Vanilla Extract
•1 Egg YOLK
•All Purpose Flour (slightly less than ¼ of a cup)
•2 heaping tablespoons of Chocolate Chips

instructions
1.Start by melting your butter in the microwave. Butter should just be melted, not boiling.
2.Add all the ingredients in a cup and mix well (mixture should look like cookie dough)
3.Cook in microwave 40-60 seconds, start checking for doneness at 40 seconds. Mine takes 50 seconds. Do not cook past one minute, just like a regular cookie, this will continue cooking as it cools. If the cookie is dry or cake like, try less time.

EAT IT WHILE ITS HOT!!

I DO THIS BUT I PUT IT THROUGH A SIFTER TO GET THE CRUMBS AND GUNK OUT OF IT. REPEAT THE PROCESS FOR CLEAN OIL

I mix old oil and fats with lots of breadcrumb and give it to the birds in my garden, they really enjoy it.

I do that with bacon grease.Then when it's almost to the top, I put a wick in it.Bacon scented candle...Double win

Been doing that for years! Although sometimes I use it to start a fire in my backyard fire pit. Or (depending on what kind of fat it is) I'll pour it on my dogs dry food as an extra treat. :)
