MISMATCHED AirPods? How To Connect and Use Together

Have you lost an AirPod, either 1st or 2nd generation? You have another AirPod to use, but it's not the same generation, I'll show you how to connect mismatched AirPods easily so you can listen to music or watch videos in stereo. You won't be stuck listening only with one ear and you won't have to spend extra money to get that other AirPod replaced.

Even if you have a different same generation AirPod, the are easily connected. Just reset the AirPod case by holding the back button for at least 15 seconds until the white light flashes an Amber Orange color. Then you can start pairing your different, same generation AirPods together.

This technique of using Mismatched AirPods together eliminates unnecessary waste and can save you a LOT of money.

Hi - thank you for this. Lost 1 of my 2nd gen buds at golf course - luckily I has lost the opposite ear from 1st gen a while back. But when I booked it up I only got error message. Searched on what to do and came across your video and BAM - it worked. I actually think the stereo sounds amazing and better than before. Thank you. Spending another$200 on buds was not what I wanted to do. Just hoping I can keep both of these in my ears. 👏

A tip if it echos!! it’s because the different generations aren’t the same quality. Turn the older air pod all the way up and the newer down until it matches! Sometimes older AirPods don’t work as good as newer ones so the new one is louder even if they are on the same level.

Great tip! I had found a R airpod pro, then bought a knockoff charging case. Months later bought a L airpod pro from eBay -- I could connect one or the other, but not both at the same time UNTIL NOW. It's just mono, but I can live with that for my occasional walks etc. Microphone and Siri work fine.

It didn't work. I am not able to keep both check marks on each air pod selection if I pick the 1st it will play and when I pick the 2nd gen then it stops playing on the 1st gen and will play on the 2nd gen. Both check marks are unable to stay on each GEN air pod at the same time. :(

*fixed mine by*
1. cleaning the case and the metal
2. throwing my pods many times but not too hard. also the case i dropped it many times.
3. i placed my pods back by pressing it down in the case for minutes. (hard pressed)
4. i charged it with original charger for 2 hours. and then it worked! hope that helps

Works amazingly. Im incredibly happy you made this video. Now how do I do this but on my PC instead. I got them both synced up but can only have 1 airpod playing audio at a time.
