Lemme summarize further: sick with b-series for both intel and AMD to get bang for buck without major compromises and make sure it fits with what size case you’re getting. The rest is just up to your aesthetic preferences.

Building your pc based on the case? Not what I do. I decide first what cpu and gpu and features I want, like how many pcie slots I need, the amount of IO, what kind of overclocking might I want to do. How much ram do I want. How many and what types of storage etc etc. Then, pick a motherboard that meets those needs. Decide on cooling. Pick a psu that can power it all. And after I know all this, that's when I look for a case suitable for all of it.
Of course, I wouldn't want a mini pc, so if that's what you are looking for, then you might start there, but you wouldn't be asking this question if you already knew that.

Better start by selecting motherboard based on platform and functionality you need. Then select cooling, power suply and storage. Then select case last to fit your components.

At first I saw the Metallica jumper and thought it was a Minecraft jumper 😂

As others have said, cheapest that has what you need.
It is important to point out, you probably will NOT be overclocking anything. Most people don't.

Itx mobo I just got in the mail is a ddr5 itx that supports two gen 4 ssd in the front and PCIE is gen 5 ready. Came from gigabyte. Got it on sale for about $240ish and is around +$300 normally.

My answer is "the cheapest one that supports the stuff I want"

Why you think mini itx motherboard so cheap? They are damn too expensive

Usually it all starts from the CPU what kind are you getting. If it is not an unlocked CPU and you are not going to overclock it there is no need for the top of the line Motherboards. Case is something you decide when you already picked all the internal hardware. Sure that cute case you picked might fit your motherboard but what about your GPU that is why you never start with the case.

It is really hard imo, I wanted a motherboard compatible with a pcie to my. 2x4 card, atleast 3 m.2 slots and at minimum 3 pcie slots with 2x16 and the other one atleast x4.

I also wanted a post code, and external clock generator, but I had to drop the last 2, or I had to spend over twice as much. The sad thing, even this motherboard that didn't have a lot of features and a lot of compromises still cost me over 200 euros.

Here's what they didn't mention and something a lot of (especially new) builders miss:

What features do you actually NEED on your board? Most of the time, people will never need more than one x16 PCIE slot, yet they will spend money and a motherboard that comes with 3 x16 PCIE slots. You also don't NEED to put the largest board you can to the case. Yes, ITX board in a mid or full tower looks very silly, but you don't need to put full size ATX in a mid tower build, a Micro ATX will do just fine.
