The Government is being urged to act as it has been revealed that several crumbling schools are ‘riddled with asbestos’.

TalkTV’s Phil Gayle is joined by the Head of Asbestos and Industrial Diseases Harminder Bains, Labour MP Stephen Timms, The Sun’s Political Correspondent Jack Elsom and PoliticsJOE Political Correspondent Ava Evans, to discuss why schools are still riddled with asbestos and why the government has been slow to act.

Harminder Baines says “I've dealt with a PE teacher that recently died from exposure” adding that “people that are diagnosed with asbestos die within 2 years.”

Stephen Timms says “we called for the government to set a deadline to get rid of it” adding that the government rejected the recommendation.

Jack Elsom says “the government doesn't like to put deadlines on things.”

Ava Evans says “ultimately, it comes down to cost,”

We used to break old asbestos roofs in the 80s when removing them. 40 years later I'm still here, fit and healthy apart from my mental health, that's messed up after watching too many videos like this.

I'm crapping myself here. I worked on schools in the early 90's, rewires and fire alarm systems. We would drill walls and ceilings installing cable and conduit systems . We had no protection yet was never told of any dangers in the buildings. I recently had a lung function test and my lungs are 10 years older than me and yet ive never been a smoker.
