After getting used to AMD multi generation support for mobos ...nothing intel can do will make me switch for that extra 3 % higher fps .

From everything I am seeing I feel like I have more confidence in AMD. I actually even just switched over from Intel to AMD with my latest computer. It will be interesting how the numbers play out when more thorough testing and comparisons get done.

I’m coming from an intel i7-9700k going to the 7950x so I will be more than happy upgrading whole system.

Hey there, awesome vid!

Just wanted to ask, do you expect there to be discounts on those new CPUs in Back Friday? I think that would be a strong incentive for waiting

As someone who's system is getting dated (I have a i7 4770 and a 1080.) I'm having a really hard time deciding whether or not to pick ryzen or Intel. I'm kind of an amd fan boy, but with the price of the motherboard and ddr5, it makes 13th gen enticing. I pretty much need to update my motherboard, ram, cpu, and my cooler and need to decide how much future proofing I want to do. If you guys give your opinions leave a comment.

Welp, I already pulled the trigger and bought a Ryzen 9 7900x, and bought all of the upgrades…upgrading from i7-9700K.. pricey upgrade but I think I’ll be good for years to come.

Great job with presenting things. Truth somewhere in there, but I want to see AMD 7000 testing with air cooler, especially 7950x + fd torrent + noctua nh-u12a. How hot will it be to jump into the new unknown.
Keep up the good work!

The 13900K with 24 cores should be amazing for productivity. On 12th gen the e cores were something like 2/3 the power of the p cores, e cores are amazing and having even more of them is just going to be that much better for productivity. Are e cores here to stay? Is intel going to try doubling e cores again for 14th gen where we have a 14900K with 8 P cores and 32 e cores? I really do think intel's idea of having two different types of cores on the CPU was a brilliant idea.

AMD Ryzen 7000 series on the other hand, well the lower end parts seem really unimpressive. The Ryzen 7950X seems amazing performance wise but it does nothing new, unless you count being designed to run at TJMax "new".

It feels like intel is doing a lot more to innovate in the CPU space and AMD, well their products seem fine, but there is nothing particular innovative about it. Kind of the same way I feel about AMD in the GPU space as well, yeah their products are fine, but they let their competitors lead the way with all of the innovations.

Very helpful Video to compare those new CPU Gens. I am currently running a 10 year old system with a 3770k and it is about time to upgrade :)

I upgraded my build about 18 months ago and the 5600x and 3080 combo is doing fine by me. What I got out of this review is that for me, investing in a 5800x3d might be the best way to get longer life out of my current build before having to move to the "newer" platforms. So for my personal situation, Thanks Robey!

it took literally a decade to go from 4ghz to 5ghz. then both intel and amd go from 5 to 6 at the same time, in 1 generation.
what happened there?

So higher CPU temp does not mean your room will get hotter. How hot your room will get is dependent on Wattage not CPU temp. It's the same as GPU. My 2080 Ti even running cooler on the die in my water cooling loop is going to heat up my room way more than my 1060 air cooled GPU even though It runs hotter than the 2080 Ti. It's wattage not temperature of the die that determines how quickly room temp will increase. Your bullet point is right in that you will lose performance more in a hot room but your room is not magically going to get hotter because of higher temp if your cpu isn't pulling as much wattage that's just not how it works

A new challenger approaches!

I'll wait for actual tests and reviews for now

Hopefully The intel cpus perform as shown and we can get some good competition. I am personally waiting for AMD to release or reveal a 7000x3D cpu and that's when its gonna get interesting

Interesting Summary :)
initial reveal of raptor lake looks like solid competition, Personally i am curious how the 13900k will perform against 7950x in workloads while creating games rather than playing games :P
Also pricing of new ryzens there in Europe looks way too extreme for many households even at lower end, if team red would decide to cut prices to be closer to Raptor lake it could be a viable option but as of now seems like intel will dominate till more of V-Cache Ryzens arrive

The problem is if we wait, everything may be sold out and impossible to find. Gamble now or risk that things are sold out?

So should I, get a 3090ti with raptor the raptor or should I get a 4090? 😅

imagine if Amd didn't start fighting back about 6 years ago we would still be having 4-6 core intel cpu

I truly believe that right now is the best time to buy current GEN parts considering how expensive it is to upgrade to AM5. The 5800X3D is bar none the best bang for buck. I’m currently running a 2600 X and GTX 1660Ti, Asus Rog strix B450 motherboard. I can easily just buy the 5800X 3-D and buy a much better gpu with that extra money I saved not upgrading and still have some impressive performance.
