Thank you!! I'd only ever been knitting s-l-o-w-l-y for many decades and always took my right hand off the needle for every stitch until about half an hour ago when I came across your brilliant tutorial! I'd been getting so frustrated. I watched a few other videos but none have been as clear as yours.
I can't believe that after all these years, I got the hang of it after a few minutes and I'm so pleased with myself! A complete game changer.

Thanks for sharing, well done! It's quite a bit different to my way to do flicking. I don't winkle my right hand so much nor put my index down. My way is to anchor my right needle at the first joint of my left index, to put the down side of my right needle in direction to the left one, same time wrap around the yarn counterclockwise and then put the needle back. I hold my yarn like you do. Doing it my way I never must leave the needle (like you) and I'm so fast I never ever thought before. Over 40 years I knitted the European Style but after I got disabled I had to learn so many things new, knitting, too. I needn't move my handys this much as you do, my fingers don't have to go up and down. This is for me the most effective and most calming down - way of knitting. So many different ways there are to do the same. Interesting. I like you show how fast it goes and then to slow down for newies/ all who want to learn. Be blessed!

Thanks for the video!! I find that I can get the motion down no problem, but tensioning the yarn is really difficult. I’m used to using quite loose tension but for this kind of knitting you need it to be a lot tighter so the yarn doesn’t just slip off your index finger. It will be a learning experience!

Clear and concise tutorial, thank you! I have a question: I have weak motor control in my hands due to a Lupus-like disease I was diagnosed with when I was a kid. How much of this method is due to strength in your hands and fingers? How hard are you holding your needles and tensioning your yarn with your index finger? What parts of your hands are doing the most work, the wrist, fingers? I am asking bc I am wondering if this method is feasible for me given my weak hands. Right now I am letting go of the right needle to wrap my yarn, and my tension is tight and inconsistent. I am an extremely slow knitter bc of this, which irritates the heck out of me. Thank you for any insights or help you can offer. :)

How. Literally how. How do you tension the yarn and keep it from sliding off your finger???? What am I doing wrong? Why can’t I figure it out? I’m about to give up and stop knitting altogether

No tapping on the purl. What difference does this make?
