Being a crocheter I've tried picking up knitting multiple times and always ditched it because it hurt my wrists. Turns out I was learning the English style. The continental style is very similar to how crocheters hold their working yarn so this makes me feel more confident to try learning knitting again.

I am trying to learn to knit. I crochet already but I can’t hold the yarn properly left handed due to an injury. Thanks for explaining the differences and that I can do it right handed instead ❤

English is not at all slower if you are using long straight needles that you keep fixed under thé right arm. In that case, thé right hand IS used only to move thé thread, thé left hand pushes thé stiches towards thé right needle. It IS very very fast.

I learned to knit (english) a couple hours ago. Continental feels more difficult and painful on my extended pointer finger hand, but the english is much slower and less iconic

Seems to me english style might aswell die out. The continental one are so much superior. Or is there really any benefit to do the english style?
