In Ethos, another good word to help you remember the meaning would be ethics. Many times, ethics can be related to credibility.

@MileyXxCyrusXxSTAR You bring up a very good point. The answer regarding celebrities is still yes, but I will give you more detail. Most of the time celebrities are used to give credibility on television NOT BECAUSE they are necessarily experts (for example, Robin Williams supporting a children's hospital), but because they are TRUSTWORTHY through their popularity and good character. Ethos has nothing to do with the true expertise of the individual, only their ability to appear credible.

Just to toss this in here, when using ethos, be careful not to change your quotes into an argument from authority (an informal fallacy).
