I use this video every year to help teach my students rhetorical appeals. Love the Dale Peterson part (hahahaha).

Rhetorical appeals are not the same as rhetorical devices. Within the appeal are the language devices used, like syntactical choices. The three rhetorical appeals given are directly tied to the audience, purpose, and evidence, or lack thereof. This is why students end up writing “through a strong use of Pathos, the author...”
