I bought a Jeep wrangler with 33's (275/70/18) on it. After two years of all sorts of transmission problems, hard shifting, slipping, limp modes, TCM codes etc, I finally realized that it was all coming from the increased tire size. The day I put stock size (255/70/18) tires on, all of the problems went away and I cant even feel it shift now. It's crazy what bigger tires can do when you don't regear.

I installed 33” tall tires on my 2013 Silverado 1500. Within 4 years I had to replace the tranny. 3 years later the rear differential blew.

Would any of this Trans and regearing or differential issues occur if someone upsized just 1 inch taller of a tire? example : going from a 29in tire to a 30in tire
On a truck, pretty minimal change. There is a 30x9.5r15 tire which i feel probably fits well n maybe improves ride over the 235/75r15.

My stock tyre was Bridgestone 215/70/16 and i changed it to 245/70/16 BF Goodrich but the car is not going above 100mph and makes some whinning noise from the transmission. Does the limp mode at 100mph has to do with big tyres? Kindly let me know

Thanks. I knew larger tires were detrimental. Now I know the reasons as well! Cars can’t be fitted with tractor tires.

Dumb question, my car say it fits 205 70 r15 and 225 70 r15, is it that much difference if I put 235 70 r15 on them?

Hello. Can big tires damage the gearbox? (manual box)
I changed the gearbox in the car, and the service people told me that the rims had a negative effect.
I'm talking about an Audi A4. the manufacturer recommends 17' rims with 225 50 17 tires, and I put 19' rims with 245 40 ZR19 tires

Swapped my Camry 010 tires for slightly bigger ones, the rear tires are now rubbing against the plate of the struts, causing the tires to smoke and give off burnt smell.

Or why automatic transmissions suck in one easy lesson. Manual transmissions don't have this problem but you may, may mind you, experience increased clutch wear.
