I am still driving my 2008 Toyota Yaris hatchback, 238, 000 miles and running great, love it😊

One thing to add for prospective buyers that I didn't think of when I was buying my civic was that insurance on the civic is much much higher than the corolla. It was about 1.5x as expensive. Definitely get a quote before buying

We just bought a brand new 2023 Corolla LE for our daughter for college. It was cheaper than a 3 year old 2020 Honda Civic with 40k miles on it😬. Easy choice for us.

If my 6'3" son was driving the Corolla with the seat all the way back I would not want to be in that back seat. We have the 2024 Civic. Lot's of space. I still drive my 07 Civic now counting 347K.

The CIVIC is awesome but has become unaffordable.

What’s more ridiculous is that Honda dealers are STILL marking their cars OVER MSRP … simply outrageous.

I purchased a new Civic Touring last month. Very happy with it. It’s size, handling and more upscale interior won me over. I got a very good deal on it as I didn’t want the color (Rally Red) and it was the only one they had in inventory. The color has grown on me.

I would choose the Honda Civic over Toyota Corolla. A comfortable back seat and trunk space are important. Plus, the interior looks more upscale. Only one problem with the Civic is the 1.5 liter, turbo charged engine. The standard Toyota engine is better.

For some time now Honda has been moving the Civic away from its humble roots, and by now the cars in that platform (Civic, the new HRV) are getting conceived as aimed at a slight step-up in category above "device to move you from point A to Point B". Notice how with the dropping in the North America market of the Fit and the old HRV, Honda have admitted that selling an "econobox" is not worth it for them here.

I bought the 2024 Corolla XSE hatchback. The rear seats are small but I never use them anyways. I only wish that the rear hatch wasn't situated so high and more of a well like my 2015 Veloster. Traded a 2019 Corolla SE for it, which is also an excellent car, absolutely zero complaints about it.

Civic costs more but it’s worth the price since it has a lot more room, better interior, and handling.

Excellent review on these two cars. You really cover what a perspective shopper needs to hear. Thank you.😎

There are no real affordable options anymore! Honda got rid of the excellent 'Fit'. Toyota got rid of the 'Yaris'. Mitsubishi is getting rid of the 'Mirage'. Mazda got rid of the 'Mazda 2'. Sucks.

Topguns. 1 and 1A.

Civic for the win 🏆 but sadly like all Hondas now, too expensive to actually purchase. 😢

I did this comparison in real life a few years ago, and the winner was....

Corolla.
I ended up buying a 2020 Corolla mostly due to the lower price. The Corolla has held up beautifully for the three years I have owned it and, along with the 2013 Camry I had, it has been the most trouble free, satisfying car owning experience I have had. I really liked both of these cars, but there really was no reason to spend more on the Honda.

I just test drove both and really felt that at my age...I'd now go with the more spacious roomier Honda. IF I were twenty years younger, I'd do the Corolla. The Corolla Hatch was REALLY squished feeling - like I was kissing my knees driving it! And then the corolla sedan, which is the absolute one I SHOULD buy cuz affordable, felt cheap! I'm pretty much on the fence and am giving it some thought...like my age tells me Honda and my pocketbook tells me Toyota- sigh.
