I'm not a framer or in the trades, but I really like your videos and the work you do.

You seem to make a great teacher and mentor. I'm sure I would have gotten into the trades a lot sooner if I came across someone with your demeanor. Thank you for sharing:)

The black chalk part is great 😂. If we can’t have a little fun at work then we are doing it all wrong.

Thank you for taking time to teach future tradesmen the pride and joy of learning a new skill and doing it well!

I applaud the silica safety measures but here's some information for you tested by my company.
Drilling into a floor slab with a 1/2" bit, indoors in a 10x10x8 room takes 141continuous 3" deep holes to reach elevated levels of airborne silica.

Drilling 1 single hole overhead with a 1/4" bit 2" deep reaches the same danger levels.

Tim, let me become an Awesome Framer too! I can also SketchUp drawings for you but more importantly, I would love to work side by side with you! I’m licensed in California but would love to be a part of your crew!

Plus, I always laugh at your jokes.

Is there something brown on my nose? lol

All of our NZ timber is pressure treated woop. Even interior timber is treated with boron. You can use doug fir but only in specific applications. its funny to hear people complain about it and we have to deal with that not even just on landscaping timber but everything

Shawshank! All too easy (<— how about that reference?). I built my deck in 2015 and learned about taping to top of the beams and joists the following year. Ugh! The regret still haunts me!

Tim ? Your bags ? Akribis? I hv a set of trim bags I had them make for me and really really enjoy them ! Full of glue I wipe on them, marked and scratched up ? But nothing like a set of leather bags! Yep tried the light cloth I get it ? But leather is so nice ! Hey look good on you man!

When building a deck next to a house (especially one that's low to the ground) wouldn't it be better to not attach it to the house and just have it be free-standing (just add in another beam and a couple more posts next to the foundation)? That way the home's exterior insulation and siding can run right down to the foundation and you wouldn't have any tricky connections to flash at the deck ledger.

Hey, random question: is getting the white pencil mark off the stained lumber an issue?

How are you liking those akribis tool bags?

Shouldn’t you space that ledger off the wall? There’s a product called deck2wall that’s for that specifically
