The moment when they relight the red Latern always breaks me. It's such an overwhelming feeling of returning hope that was long burried. It's impossible not to cry.

I love the moment Balto brings the hat to Rosie in this scene. When he did it at the beginning of the movie, it was to impress Jenna, but here, Balto does it as his one final act of kindness (in the movie) to someone that cares for him. Because Rosie approached Balto with kindness and care in the beginning, he returns the gesture by giving up everything to save her life. I absolutely adore Balto as a character in this movie simply because it is impossible to care for him more than he cares for you.

1:10

I get goosebumps just to see the lantern being lit again. In a dark hour of a dead silent night, it was an awakening of hope for all the town.

I don't care how inaccurate this movie is in terms to what actually happened....it is my favourite non Disney animated film. Though now, I still can't help but wonder how/why these people didn't question how Balto found the missing sled team, and managed to bring the medicine back...and also why they're not questioning why two polar bears and a goose are running to greet him....

Beautiful artistic use of light at 1:10 as the rekindling shows the immediate return of hope.
And just as impressive is 2:30 as the light shines through the medicine, seemingly symbolizing the life it grants.
Magnificently meaningful animation indeed.

It's such a shame his and his teams (the other dogs that were with him) lives afterwards wasn't as happy as this movie makes it to be. But at least hopefully in the end him and his team somewhat got the nice, spoiled life that they all deserved.
(For those that may not know, afterwards him and his team were sold to a company that originally sponsored the team, and whom in return neglected and abused them. After being discovered in the horrible states they were left in they were rescued and lived out the rest of their lives being cared for in a zoo.

Greatest character arc ever:
"THEY SHOULD BUILD A STATUE OF HIM!"
"You said it!"
"I - I did?"

I got goosebumps at 0:27 when Balto and his team returned!

It's been 20 years since I last saw this movie. I had entirely forgotten the name of the movie and everything about it while growing up!

Back then I saw it in Norwegian, so I had no idea that such great actors as Kevin Bacon, Bob Hoskins (may he rest in peace), Jim Cummings and even Phil Collins were in this movie! I'm a native Norwegian, but I've always preferred English language in movies, ever since I started to learn the language.

I'll definitely watch this whole movie again today, 20 years later since my last time watching this

As the owner of a wolfdog that was in a previously abusive household before I rescued her, the part that always gets to me is when the townspeople gather around to pet Balto, he pins his ears down and ducks his head nervously because it's probably the first time he's ever experienced non-violent touch from them. My girl was the same way when I first got her. Scared of human hands because she was so used to expecting pain from them.

One of my favourite scenes from one of my favourite youth nostalgia 's! Espechially that Jenna made the lights to guide Balto, and then he says her name and howls hopefull and joyfull.
