My parents were disappointed that I wasted my college degree by being in the Animation industry animating cartoons that I love which is far from the course they forced me to take for 4 long years. I did use my degree working in the industry they prefer for 5 years... I tried to live the way they want but I just can't do it all my life so 3 years ago, I quit my job and applied in an animation studio. Now, I wake up knowing that lm working at my dream job... My parents arw not happy about it but I was glad I did it. My only regret was not doing it sooner.

Living in the U.K., the idea of “health insurance” is absolutely crazy. Imagine working yourself into the ground in a job you don’t like only to have health insurance incase of an injury or medical condition.

The problem I have experienced basically all of my life and I am sure others have as well is trying to live up to your parents expectations. After falling depressed my mother finally understood that I wasn't going to continue being her "he gets all A's, he does all his chores, he never disrespects me" kind of kid. She realized that I was going to be me and that she appreciated that more than being the perfect kid. She still does like to brag about how smart I am despite my mediocre grades.

The parents are more concerned about how they look to their friends vs actually caring about their daughter and what she wishes to do, knowing confidently if she puts her heart and soul into it she will succeed. Parents push their kids way too hard and it’s time that changed.

My parents are the same. I just quit my job and it's not sure I get the one I want, and I didn't tell them. It's making me a little bit sick knowing that they will try to talk it out of me and pointing out negative things that could happen. I know they're worried, but I it's gotten to a point I don't want to speak to them anymore. But like you I have a sibling that supports me, and friends so I know everything will be alright!
