I joined the oil industry with a PhD in Physics many years ago. My experience was that they needed me to do routine stuff for 80% of my time, and to go into problem solving mode for 20% of the time. The problems were challenging and fascinating, and I really felt that my contribution made a difference, sometimes going against the received wisdom. But the 80% of my time "feeding the monster" (management reporting, etc) was tedious.

It is so great to see your success and your persistent passion, and also your courage to explore different paths and develop new skills! I'm so happy I've just seen this video, I've been following you on socials for a while now and thought your content was really interesting but this video has definitely convinced me to learn some stuff on Marqo (I'm very excited). I'm going to do a maths degree this year and already want to learn some maths content before my degree, I also feel like these courses will help set me apart and give me some broader knowledge on applications of mathematics into the tech industry. yo, congratulations on your new job, i kinda lost count on the amount of times you said you love your new "situation". truly incredible and i do believe that the world needs more passionate people if we are gonna make any significant leaps as a civilization... i like space too although i'm more of a hardware guy...like building stuff and i believe that great software is what makes good machines "good".
