The Russians are running out of microchips, which power their high-tech weapons.

They may have to "fight an analogue war rather than a digital war" says Major General Chip Chapman.

I have worked with electronic components for many years and what people don’t realize is that they are not all created equal, the quality varies greatly as does their failure rate which is why you don’t use the same grade of components for a dishwasher as you do a ballistic missile that goes from 0 to Mach 4 in a fraction of a second which puts a lot of stress on the components and this is why 60% of Russian missiles fail to detonate or hit anywhere near their target. China is not capable of producing powerful high quality microchips & processors, they don’t have the manufacturing technology.

About Europe being low on war supplies, they've been relying on protection from the United States since WWII. It is about time Europe got up to their "promised" 2% GDP on defense spending in NATO. The U.S. has to subsidize Europe constantly, and still was scoffed at for saying, back in 2018, that relying on Putin's Russian gas supplies was dangerous. Is Europe finally listening to reason?

That is good news. They should not be able to make more weapons. Russia must leave Ukraine and realize that Putin is an Soviet oldtimer wishing to back to his childhood. Most other countries seems to be looking at the future. Not returning to the past.

Russia relying on the super high tech state of the art Iranian weapons along with the incredibly advanced North Korean shells. Irans stuff is state of the art for 1978. NK stuff is high tech for 1960.

Come on Mr Pienarr, the Russians are short of semiconductors. These are arrays of programmable transistors. Superconductors are entirely different things. Typically they are metal alloys that have have virtually zero electrical resistance. The two are completely different.

"high-tech" and "Russian weapons" in the same sentence seem an oxymoron

Nothing says more "I`m a british officer" than this name...

The shortage of semiconductors must be really crippling their defense industry if the Russians are now forced to buy drones from Iran.

the Pound isn't going down. The Dollar is going up which makes it look like the Pound is going down. It's an illusion.

PRC’s ability to manufacture military grade sophisticated chips is very limited and those they DO manage to produce they need for their own military needs. Taking dumb chips out of domestic appliances (if true) is desperation indeed and of only limited use in a military context. Processors vary enormously in sophistication and capability and the PRC isn’t good at making the top end chips.

All three major bearing manufacturers left Russia and their trains depend on Carriage bearings. About 10, 000 trains out of service and more coming soon. Along with those that were destroyed. Almost all Goods in Russia are moved by train. Even if they get ammunition from North Korea can they get it to the front lines and across the rivers?

The Russian Keystone Army wasted so much of its resources in its suicidal attacks earlier this year. They were fighting just as they did in 1944 when they had the unlimited resources and soldiers. No, it is not 1944 -- it is now 2022.

A free Taiwan manufactures 90% of the worlds semiconductors. Over time production must be disbursed to other countries, but Taiwan must currently eliminate shipments to Russia/China.

In Sweden we have about 50…70 advanced infrared speed cameras stolen around Stockholm in the last weeks. Same type of cameras that might be used in drones.

More and more 'dumb' rockets are being found in Ukraine, demonstrating how Russia is battling supply chain shortages.
