A shocking Reddit video shows an NYPD SUV swerving around a Queens highway, apparently trying to ram a moped rider and knock them off their vehicle in the middle of traffic.

The 39-second clip, taken by the occupants of a car just behind the officer and posted Wednesday by a Redditor named MelBloccs, captured the SUV attempting to box in the moped by pushing it toward a cement divider on what appears to be the Van Wyck Expressway.

When the moped slowed down and cut back across the lanes, the SUV banked hard and nearly hit the rider again.

The car’s occupants expressed their shock at the cop’s behavior, saying, “Look at this guy – look at him! Oh my god, he’s trying to hit him!”

They also called 311 to report the officer’s behavior and list out his license plate.

If criminals don’t fear prosecution anymore then maybe they’ll fear injury

I don’t know the laws in NY but, the laws where I live say you’re not supposed to be on the highways with mopeds/ scooters. So this may be why the cop was after him in the first place.

We didn't investigate ourselves and found ourselves not guilty

"Under internal review" what a joke

"It is under internal review." So it means most likely nothing gonna happen. They really need to have independent agencies that investigate police officers.

The same moped, that's not supposed to be on the parkway?

Turn sirens on and drive behind him when pulling someone over. If he doesn’t stop then you are in a pursuit. Instead he tried to knock him off his bike. Unbelievable.

People are outraged about this? Really? The Moped was purposely putting himself at risk rather than stopping or getting off the highway - that he's not supposed to be on. Unbelievable.

These comments are weird. That was deadly force being used, only justifiable if the guy was a serious active threat. The officer did not have lights on and did not continue chasing him. Looks like road rage, not an attempt at stopping an active threat.

If that cop did that here in Lee County he would be fired and locked up immediately

There are fast mopeds suitable for highways. This one keeping up with traffic.

By the comments here, it must be acceptable to allow criminals to do as they wish? For the people reading this, laws are made and enforced, except in states like New York, California, and Oregon where the minds have turned too much. So, when a crime is committed on or near your family, who will you call? Don't tell me the police. Why not call a politician, social worker, or your local activist, you would not want them enforcing laws in front of you, would you?

the cop thought it was a 50cc moped, it was actually a 125cc scooter so is allowed on the highway, why the cop thought it was OK to ram him off the road because he thought it was a 50cc moped is only known to him and the police department is saying nothing as it's under investigation (waiting for the dust to settle and something else become headlines)

Mopeds and scooters run the red light in busy nyc streets could hit a woman or child. These scooters are gettign away with violating traffic laws. They can easily swerve and get away making them hard to catch.
