Need to convert your wired Apple CarPlay or Android Auto to wireless? In this video, we'll review the Ottocast U2X Pro and the Carlinkit U2W Plus to see which is the better solution for you. The Ottocast works for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay while the CarlinKit only works with Apple CarPlay.

There is a button on the autocast which you can press to reboot it without unplugging it and plugging it back in. This will also allow you to choose a second phone from the list at boot up.

Nice basic comparison. I don't have these two units but have tried several others. Each works basically the same. They're fine for basic functions such as music and even navigation. The problems start when i try to make phone calls or join meetings while navigating. I have yet to find a Carplay adapter that can handle this.

Great review. Does both of these items work with 2022 Nissan Murano and 2023 Nissan Sentra SR??

Faster connection for carlinkit sealed the deal. Bought a 5.0 based on your video. Works well

How does navigation work with Carlin, and does it work with the Toyota steering wheel buttons, and voice control?

Hello, I am looking for a device so that i can i mirror my iphone screen to the dashboard of my vehicle while i run on off-line navigator on my iphone in a wireless way. Is it also possible to use the tactile dashboard of the car to send instructions to my iphone? Kr, Marc

If I have a third phone or replace my phone on the Ottocast U2x, can I reset the list of paired phones or remove an old phone?

Awesome review. Thanks for the thoroughness! Did you experience any lag or reaction delay time when touching an app and having the app respond with either device?

I have Amazon carplay adapter from COVS DIRECT ($60). Connects similarly to the two brands mentioned here. Sound quality is same as wired. Only issue I found with “LAG” is watching YouTube. The audio is behind. Voice doesn’t match the person’s lips. This is the lag I’m talking about. It’s annoying but not a dealbreaker. How are these brands with that? And would the GPS lag as well. These are the two issues I’m hoping to see resolved with these adapters with either a better brand or firmware updates in the future.

im using carlinkit 5.0 with audi s3 2018 and the response time is terrible. when I press a button (like pause or forward) within an audio app on carplay it takes about 2 seconds. this is not the case when using a cable, so clearly a device problem. even though they say the response time is 300ms its not true. idk if that is the same with the ottocast or if it really depends on the connected car.

Thanks for the review, I bought carlinkit v3, this one has the android system built in version 9 or android 9, so will see how it goes using my galaxy fold 4, using this carlink to my ford maverick.

Does your car need a USB C port? I have older vehicles with older USB ports.
