Two rioters involved in violent disorder in Leeds city centre last weekend have been sentenced.

Sameer Ali, 21, who was described by the judge of “good character” before the incident, was handed 20 months in prison for the offence of affray.

Adnan Ghafoor, 31, was sentenced to two and a half years in prison for affray, which includes a 12-month term for breaching a suspended sentence.

Leeds crown court heard that Ali attacked three men, punching two with “full force”.

“You walked away down the centre of the road, laughing and congratulating yourself and others in your group,” Judge Guy Kearl KC said.

Yet two men that attacked three armed officers in an airport are still walking free

Now jail those who attacked the police officers in Manchester airport

Causing violence on the streets, 20 months
Complaining about it, also 20 months
Make it make sense. The system is rotten to the core.

He got 20 months for violently attacking people and this judge gave out the same sentence for someone saying he didn't want his money going to certain people. Is this not two tier justice ?

Pathetic that he has to state "The law applies to everyone, regardless of race"... because he's petrified of being called a racist.

So writing something on facebook is the same as brutally beating someone up . At least we know now.

Will the so called person who was clearly seen setting a double decker bus on fire, will he have to pay for a new £300K bus that serves that community, or will he be let off?

Why hasn’t the labour councillor who shouted out slash their throats been charged yet?

Sameer Ali, 21, jailed for 20 months for being part of a group of Asian men seen kicking and punching a smaller group of white men.
Specifically:

• Throwing left and right-handed punches towards a bald man
• Confronting a second man whom he also punched.
• Attacked a third man who was being held by others.
• Returned to the second man and punching him, causing him to fall to the ground and then kicking him whilst he was on the ground.
• Then walked away laughing and congratulating himself and others in his group.

Seems a fairly light sentence for repeated & unprovoked assaults on several different individuals?
Especially compared to some white protestors, who got 3 years for committing no assaults at all?

I used to have faith in our judicial system. I don't thing anybody believes that justice is blind anymore.

These sentences are less that what we have already seen. Why is that?

A 61 year old English man, no previous convictions, always worked, recently retired and his wife is not in good health. He was sentenced to 18mths in prison for chanting and shouting at police. The judge said ' the sentence was to deter others' That is unjustified and a disgrace. What crime did he actually commit anyway?

Their sentences were less than people who were just shouting

How can we allow judges to be so harsh to British people, and lenient to muslims.
Something is starting to stink with our government.

There was many kids involved in the Leeds riots, can be seen clearly vandalising the police car yet no charges have been brought against them, unlike kids in other riots in the UK where kids have been charged. The same rules should be applied to both.

Only 2 of them? There were 100’s in Leeds riots!
