Woman jailed for murdering parents and hiding bodies in family home

A 36 year old woman from Essex has been jailed for life for the murder of her own parents. Virginia McCullough had been living with the bodies of her dead father John and her mother Lois - for the past four years, and their remains were only just discovered.

Not in anyway excusing her vile behaviour, but the fact she killed her parents and that their four other children didn’t bother to see them face to face in person strikes me as odd.

The most shocking thing about this case is that a GP actually showed some form of care towards a patient & bothered to chase it up.

The fact that she chose 2 very different methods for killing each parent makes me wonder if one was planned and the other she snapped. To poison your Dad to death but bludgeon your Mum with a hammer seems to suggest very different mindsets at the time.

Living with it for 4 years and expecting this day to come, she probably became desensitised to the situation, playing it over in her head hundreds of times and accepting the potential consequences of what she had done. It's shocking to everyone who just found out about it, sure, but it makes sense as to why she was so casual about it. Interesting to see the contrast in mentality.
