More than 150 people charged, and almost 600 arrested in UK riots

More than 150 people have now been charged in court over the recent riots, according to the Ministry of Justice, which said 118 had been remanded behind bars.

At least a dozen were jailed - some for stirring up racial hatred on social media, while police warned there would be more arrests to come.

Sir Keir Starmer said the speed of the legal process - including sentencing - would deter others from getting involved in any future disorder.
