I respect your video very informative. I have owned Ego Chainsaw, hedger, weed trimmer since 2015. Had only two batteries between them. I have a 1.5 acre lot with lots of large trees surrounding my home. These tools got put to the test! The batteries died during the month of May 2024. I bought some barely used batteries of ebay and continue to use my tools. The reliability of my Ego tools is why I just bought a power 615cfm blower with a 2.5 battery. I now have four 2.5 amp batteries to run my tools! For me, Ego tools have been worth it!!!

Just last yr I bought the 650 blower that came with a 5ah battery, the top of the line weed whip with a 4ah battery and the turbo charger and so far everything's been great. Just bought the newer 16" chainsaw and that has a 4ah battery but haven't used that yet. I have never found myself using the blower on turbo constantly only for a burst when needed and it's been great and don't think everyone's going to be using turbo constantly anyway, the shut down for over heating is just to protect the system. My Ridgid tools all shut down when pushed to hard also. Thanks for all the testing and maintenance tips also, I've really found a lot of them helpful especially the snowblower ones cuz I was given an Ariens 1332 that need work and stuff really helped.

I have the 670 blower which came with the 4.5ah battery, never had issues with the battery running out for general home lawn work. Have the chain saw, pole saw and IQ weedeater as well, love them all for home personal use. Major upgrade from the Ryobi 18v stuff I had.

I have multiple EGO tools and love them all. I have the 650 CFM blower with a 5AH battery. I get about 15 minutes if I run in constant turbo mode. I guess that's pretty consistent with your results. However, very seldom would you need to run in turbo mode for that long. In the two years since I bought my first EGO tool I have never once had a battery overheat while using it continually from full charge to dead.Maybe that's a difference between the 2.5AH and 5.0AH batteries? Today I just used my 18" EGO chain saw to cut up large broken branches that fell in the last snow storm. What a pleasure to cut quietly and only have to squeeze the trigger every time I need to make a cut. It has every bit as much power as my old retired Husqavarna chain saw. In spite of your poor results I'm sold on EGO products.

I too have this exact blower & have not been disappointed for my small yard. Thanks for your input!

Watched your first video a few minutes ago and I came away more hopeful. For my tiny side yards and rock garden, I think that circular button on the side my do enough. I'm curious as to what your neighbors think of you testing all these things. I think your patience and thoroughness is exactly what we consumers need. Cheers and thx

I’ve used my 650cfm for about 2 years doing 10-15 gutter jobs per week. I’ve used the same 4ah & 7ah batteries since I purchased it. There will never be a scenario when you have the turbo pressed down for a prolonged time. It can overheat but so can gas powered blowers, which having an Echo gas previously I ran into a lot more frequently. But on the Ego in my experience it’s a momentary shut off I wait a few seconds and it’s up and running that only happens after I’ve been using in hot sun for a prolonged time. They are the most durable blower on the market and it’s not even close. Mine has been soaked from the rain and hose water hundreds of times, covered in dirt and mud on weekly basis. Been dropped from 1 story many times and still works flawlessly.

How much time between a complete battery charge and the testing? Since I have all the other batteries, 4, 7, 10, I'll do testing on the blower (starting with a full battery, not a freshly charged warm battery).

Can't think of any scenario (even a yard full of leaves) whereby you would constantly need to use the Turbo button (as you stated at the beginning of the video). I've most of the EGO line and have not encountered overheating batteries, and I've never had to change batteries on the blower, but of course, I use them as a normal home owner would.

As an EGO product user for 2 years now, the only caveats I'd say are, 1. The product is not cheap, $$, 2. The mower is great except on heavy wet grass. Light wet grass okay, just not a deep cut on wet grass (it leaves a choppy lawn). Otherwise, I'm experiencing no problems at all with batteries, charging or their products.

I picked this unit up today for small jobs around the yard. I already have the EGO trimmer, so I do have a spare charger and battery. I'll continue to use my gas powered backpack blower for the big jobs!

Putting the blower on the ground, blocking 30% of the air flow in, without moving it around as you would normally, might have been the reason for both the battery life shortening and the overheating issue. I have this one and use a 5.0ah battery. With the 5.0 battery I can mow my lawn using the Ego lawn mower and clean up the clipping using this leaf blower, and blow the garage out on one charge. If I need to really do some leaf blowing, I use my 7.5ah battery and alternate charging and using the batteries between the two of them to get whatever job I need done. I love my Ego.

Just ran my 765 cfm blower on turbo for about 10 min. Not sure how much charge is left, but it overheated and quit. Unit won't run at all. Wondering if leaving it on the charger with its fan will help it cool down. Likewise, the battery does not feel hot to the touch.

Got the trimmer, blower, lawn mower and 2 batteries 5ah and 7ah and never had over heating. Ive trimmed, cut and cleaned up with the blower and always still had plenty of juice in the batteries. For larger properties obviously gas is better. For your average 40x80 lot these tools are a dream. 3 year warranty on the battery and if it doesn't give problems in the first 3 years than I dont imagine it could clunk out so soon after. Electric may not be the best option for everyone yet but Ego is definitely leading the way and is the only brand to buy for Electric

Not gonna lie as long as I am used my ego equipment. I’ve never had my batteries to overheat. This is surprising..

Not surprising at all.

I work for a Ford dealer, and a customer who bought a 78K Lightning (all electric F-150) got 35 miles of towing a 15, 000 boat & trailer combo before the truck completely died.

They can take this battery-powered crap and shove it.

I'll be done blowing leaves in an hour with my GAS-powered blower and sipping a cold beer, while EGO buyers wonder why they wasted about $250 of their hard-earned money only to have to replace it with something that actually works beyond 15 minutes.

GREAT, honest vid JB!!!

I Ego 650cfm 180mph blower with 5amp battery and 4.5amp. Tried it today and 5 amp worked for 40min and half of my front yard and had to put it on the charger for over an hour. While 5amp charged, I worked thr other half of my front yard with 4.5 Amp and that lasted for 30min normal speed. I have still back yard full of leaves not done. This blower is great but batteries suck. I am returning it and buying gas blower. It's good for small yard but not large ones with tons of leaves.

I think this unit, wouldn't work well if your running a business and your going house to house . I'm gonna try to repair the echo I found in the garbage. My neighbor said he had enough, I kinda want to prove him wrong. Lol ...I dont mine dealing with mix gas . I'm thinking as long as I service it, it should work, if not even better then the electric ...great video ....thumbs up for sure ...im part of the tribe, so I subscribed months ago . Thanks again

Wow, I was going to give this a go based on a Consumer Reports rating. But your videos on this Ego have me completely rethinking this purchase. I want a low maintenance rechargeable blower, but not one that makes me stop and start for my 5/8 acre property.

I bought the weed eater. I'm very happy. I bought a craftsman corded blower that blows 140 mph. It was only 60 bucks for the blower, I'm happy with that too.
