Ego can also work in the exact opposite way. Self-defeating ego. If you have very low self-value and then someone praises you, ego comes up with things like: "They're lying. They're just saying that because they're polite but they don't actually mean it." etc. Just to clarify a bit further.

In my experience, i think it gives me an accurate sense of when dangers are present.
Like if I'm at work and see a pattern thats familiar, i know to expect.
It's an intuitive hunch, and it's usually right.

It's that "something is off" feeling you get.
Or noticing the way people move, the look on their faces, body language.

I feel like it's the other way round. The ego is the sense of self that we have, and the mind then takes action to preserve out self image, rather than the ego being our protection from others.

I feel trapped in life I wish I have a small ego or no ego and a super power that I do not need food for survival and another superpower that controls my ego to prevent it from protecting me when I am in a negative emotional state
