I am one of those extras running! It was absolutely amazing! Fun fact: while we where there on Salisbury plains, the army where training with tanks (or something) in the distance, so there was an eerie feeling about hearing the gunfire !

True story: the two guys he ran into where an accident, they only had 3 shots to do this scene and the one where he runs into an extra made into the film. Great movie

I haven't truly loved a Sam Mendes film since Road To Perdition (2002), so my expectations were low... but this movie was truly spectacular and worth of its current accolades. Great article too, great read B&A!

I love how he walked slowly at first so that they have the time to attack the camera to the truck, and then started running.

At the beginning, you can see two crew members, dressed as soldiers, taking the camera off the crane onto the other one, mounted on the car! Wow!
