The fact that I'll never get to watch this for the first time again...

Roger Deakins is just flexing here. It’s like he and Thomas Newman were both flexing to try and see who was the most jacked and they just kept one-upping each other.

2:13 is the exact moment I said to myself in the theater: "well, this just won best cinematography"

It doesn't feel right watching this movie in bits & pieces.

I had one of the most cathartic and euphoric experiences I've ever had watching this scene. It completely took my breath away, and reduced me to tears. Thomas Newman is one of the absolute greats of film composition, and he deserves way more recognition than he gets. And Roger Deakins' cinematography is some of the most exquisite I've ever seen. Such a remarkable and powerful film.

I was convinced he had died and the lit up ruins were the pearly gates to heaven when I saw this for the first time in theater

I couldn't believe the simplicity and elegance that was captured on screen knowing the amount of technical detail and planning that had to go into creating the set and how the real light would track over it and the actor knowing when and where he needed to be in a location and for how long. My favorite film of 2019. A beautiful dance between the actors and the camera with such a simple yet powerful objective driving them. Just goes to show and film doesn't need to be complicated to be brilliant.

This is, without question, one of the greatest cinematic achievements of the 21st Century so far (both the entire film and this scene). It's true art and is, in my opinion, Sam Mendes' magnum opus. This scene proves it.

I will never, ever forget what it was like to see this film, and particularly, this scene, in theaters for the first time.

I’ve trained with these flairs in the marines. It is so trippy to walk when all the shadows are quickly moving and you gain and lose natural ability to see in the dark. This scene brought all that back and hit me right in the feels, and very stressed getting that feeling back. The first time I saw this I was so stressed with him up and running around while flairs were in the air. Made for a fantastic scene.

I don’t think people understand how much work was put into filming this scene

My favourite scene of the whole movie. The lighting and shadows of the flares overhead, combined with the excellent soundtrack sends chills down my spine.

People back then thought this war was the apocalypse. Back when sights like these were commonplace, it must have been tough to blame them.

Me and my friends got bored and decided to see a movie, I hadn’t heard of this movie before then so we decided on watching it. And when we left the theater we were just speechless. I was so shook I wish I could see this again for the first time
