I have a fun story about how I learned about the working of shotgun shells:
We moved to Bulgaria and the house we lived it was a very old house and the previous owner didn’t clean up so in one of the rooms was a attic that was open and on top of that part was about 50-70 shotgun shells and most of them were still unused and just thrown up there and it was a mix of: cardboard shells and plastic shells and some with tiny bb’s and some with bigger bb’s and there where slugs and some shells had different sizes of bb’s in them and we being curious teenagers that live in Europe where just a few ppl own firearms and we never saw real firearms…so we cut them open
And that was interesting to learn about

Anyway we never saw real firearms because we live in Europe, most people here hate firearms and I am the only one in my family that actually likes them
I also spend a lot of time learning about them and the most important thing I learned (except for firearm safety) is that most people who hate firearms are the people that are uneducated on them

Anyhow that’s how I learned about shotgun shells

That looks like an old military 00 buck. Green shell and painted brass. Those are the good ones. I generally run the black aces 1450 fps shells.
And i also got some #1 buck and 0 buck.
Back in the day you could find 000 and 0000 buck shot.
Now days its 00, slugs and target loads.

Yhup. OO buck is 32 cal (.32") round, lead balls. Can be soft lead wire swaged into a ball, hard cast lead, copper plated lead, etc...

Even in the common 12 gauge 2 3/4 inch shells, the number of OO pellets vary. I find 9 to 12 pellets being the most common. Low recoil defense loads often have 8-9 pellets while the full power hunting loads will often have all 12.

They are 32 caliber and usually there are 8 to 9 of them in 00 buck shot.

How are you not gonna state the caliber of pellets (32) and how many? (8), you did.zero description on what is 00 buck but instead what a shotgun shell is, not much of an instructor or communicator...

Why is it called 'buck' though? You wouldn't shoot a buck with that would you or hunt with it? Would only severely harm a large animal rather than taking them down cleanly. Genuine question by the way, as I have very limited knowledge of guns or hunting
