It's likely more than 110 years old. The brass casing was a WWI thing as paper casings didn't survive in trench conditions and plastic ones hadn't hit the scene yet.

12 gauge brass ammunition commonly used in World War One by Americans in the gun called the Winchester model 1897 shotgun.

Cold doesnt degrade ammo. Heat yes. Rifle ammos are badly affected by vibration and heat making the powder fast burning leading to overpressure !

So what you did is freeze the shell right before making the vid?

Because if this were real, water *definitely* would have gotten into that shell over the course of 50 years, rendering it obsolete at least until it was fully dried.

“Oh my god! Is it time? Is it finally time for me to be used-“
*proceeds to be dissected like a frog, with their gunpowder getting wasted*

I’ve never been able to see the inside of an old brass shotgun shell. Thank you for donating that extremely fine specimen of a cartridge to the greater sciences so we could all have an education here

That opening scene reminds me of that channel that does different types of ice cubes and the guy is from Europe somewhere with an accent.

I feel like these can realistically be stored indefinitely depending on how sealed the primer is. That wax cap seems pretty well sealed as long as you don't crush the cartridge.
