By deliberately scheduling "high-density" fun into your day, you can create time pressure that eliminates distractions, helps you get more done, and reduces stress.

Great way of putting it:

Low density fun = easy but bad
High density fun = hard but good

Cheers Thomas!

I totally agree with this.  People forget that if you don't plan it, it won't happen especially if you are busy.  I always left Sundays as "Me" days while I was in nursing school

"scrolling through Facebook? Stupid, stop it." it was like my conscience talking to me, that felt weird :D

This is totally true and I absolutely agree. High density fun actually makes me more productive and focused during work.
My friend and I planned for a Saturday trip out of town to do some hiking and other fun outdoor activities. and so because I know I will not be studying and will be out all day this Saturday, I find that I am much more motivated and focused during my study sessions all week! I also get majority of my work done. I feel like that high density fun will be like a reward for all of my hard work so i am more motivated to work harder.

I loved your expression when you said "Scrolling through Facebook is stupid. Stop it.". I even watched it again cuz I liked it more than I probably should :D

Awesome video! This motivated me to follow the "work hard, play hard" mentality instead of just doing pseudo-work all the time. Keep up the great work, I love your videos ^^

"It's not actually fun"... that's a truth smackdown right there. Most work distractions are mind numbingly boring *cough clash of clans cough*.

I think you're pointing out the real problem here, and that's a shame no one ever covered this subject.
It's not like I don't want to study (for.ex I book my weekend for that) but then because I have this big period of time to study I allow myself to space out a lot, have a lot of low intensity fun because I won't allow myself to have actual fun at all. This is probably the main cause of my inefficiency. I'm gonna give it a try, plan actual fun at the end of the day and see how I do today. Let's grow some trees, fucking finals coming up

With every video in this channel I find more and more solutions for common problems like this that I have too, it's awesome!

I also found this out on my own and was glad to see this. The best thing about this is that you have something to look forward to while you are working. I am a bit of an otaku, so, I do my work in the day and then enjoy my hard-earned quality time at night watching 1-2 episodes of anime or reading manga. It works.

Well over a decade ago, you have good taste. Old vid, but a big problem of mine right now and you're absolutely right. I fell into a bad slump where I've been stuck to Twitter and YouTube while barely interacting with any of the hobbies I actually like and have been struggling like crazy to break it to little avail, but I feel motivated after watching this. Thanks.

I've finally found the good side of YouTube! I've just begun preparing for a competitive entrance exam for MS which is due Jan'17. I am so lucky to have found this channel this early in my prep. I am definitely going to use most of the tips that I've seen in this and all the other videos.
Initially my plan was to completely go off the grid..I have already gone of most social media sites, but I was also planning to change my number so that I wouldn't end up getting distracted with plans that my friends would possibly make(which is very extreme), but after watching this video I've realized that I was eliminating both;the low and high intensity fun. I'm definitely going to modify my plan of action now.

Thanks Thomas!

Sly 2 is one of my favourite games ever made. I have a lot of good memories playing that game :)

I'm not a college student but you are spot-on about the low-density fun, really brilliant! It perfectly describes how I waste time "relaxing" without ever getting refreshed. So, going to work on this. Would love your take on DISTRACTIONS. Ugh, the curse of ADD.

"Scrolling through Facebook is stupid. Stop it"

Entire video could be summarized with that one line.

So true! It's really important to still have fun. It feels so good to sit down and play your favourite games after having stuff done. Really helpful advice.
