Bryant Cook plays Ruby Storm in a Modern League on Magic: The Gathering Online! These matches were played on: 08/29/24

THE BEST COLOR SPLASH? Experience the power of Ruby Storm in this exciting Izzet twist on the Modern deck, now featuring cards from the Bloomburrow (MTG BLB). The deck introduces new tech, including Flame of Anor and Into the Flood Maw, replacing the previous Boros elements. This version maintains the explosive potential of the original while leveraging the synergy between rituals, card draw, and the new cards from Bloomburrow.

The core strategy revolves around generating a massive amount of mana with Desperate Ritual, Pyretic Ritual, and Manamorphose. Ruby Medallion and Stormcatch Mentor work together to reduce the cost of red spells, allowing you to chain spells effortlessly. Ral, Monsoon Mage continues to reduce spell costs and provide additional card advantage, solidifying its role as a central piece of the deck's strategy.

Past in Flames is a powerful engine, enabling the Flashback of rituals and cantrips to fuel the storm count for a lethal Grapeshot win. The addition of Flame of Anor provides crucial answers to problematic permanents like Drannith Magistrate, Dampening Sphere, and Magebane Lizard.

We hope you enjoy this exciting gameplay! If you do, please don't forget to subscribe, like, and comment!

Cutting into storm after a long time of piloting other decks and this was very informative and you happened to get a good spread of opponent's decks which made this pretty informative...Jegantha seems too important to go into colors that want RR spells. Liked and Subbed! Thanks for creating good content.

Crazy matches indeed :D
I love the Izzet version the most. From the inception of this deck I was preaching/hoping that Izzet will be the thing in the future, but for the wrong reasons. I was advocating for Preordains, but boy am I happy that Flame of Anor fits amazingly in this shell! Thanks for playing the deck!

Didn't realize you'd put this out! So I was already looking into Izzet colors for this and like this list. Since you already wanna be Blue, is there merit to considering Geralf as a wincon somewhere in the 75?

One line to consider was match 1 game 1, you cast valakut awakening with 1 in hand, you could have picked up jegantha and bottomed it to get a card deeper

20 lands, 1 fetch in hand with a surveil land on the play, you have about a 56.8% chance of hitting your 2nd land 1-(35/53)(34/52)
On the draw you have a 74.5% chance of hitting your 2nd land 1-(34/53)(33/52)(32/51)

So the main take away is that flame of anor handles a magebane lizard and is a more versatile card.
Also it adds cards to our hand rather then exiling it like glimpse does?
I guess I'll trust your experience here and run this list on the RCQ next weekend - thanks Bryant! =)

31:11 it's not super intuitive but you actually can use jeggy green here to play manamorphose. It didn't really matter here, but it does give you one extra mana basically

I've seen a lot of lists doing wll running the Boros version again with 3 Silence and 4 Static Prison in the SB.
You think the boros version is better then the izzet or is izzet still the best?

Do you think Artist's Talent is just a bad card to test in Ruby Storm? It grants card quality and late game can be a overcosted Medallion.

Round 5 they were dead on board to the goblins. They had a ring with 2 counters on it and likely no way to gain life or stifle that at instant speed.

Don't you think that not running any wincon main deck is risky? I mean, if they surgical or something else your wish you are screwed! I don't understand why not playing at least 1 grapeshot in the main. If you can explain I would be very grateful

In round 3, it probably didn't matter too much, but you should probably use Jegantha's green mana to cast Manamorphose rather than your unrestricted red mana!

how do you think this compares to twiddle storm?

What do you think on going down a land?

Inagree blue is still the best splash. I just miss wishing to cast the flusterstorm to fish for the win off baral triggers.
