CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Rocky (Sylvester Stallone) wants to fight again, but Mickey (Burgess Meredith) tells him that he doesn't have it in him anymore.

FILM DESCRIPTION:
By concentrating on character development with this first of several sequels to his Oscar-winning smash Rocky (1976), writer/director Sylvester Stallone earned critical praise that would desert him with the boxing saga's shallower subsequent chapters. Stallone returns as Rocky Balboa, a Philadelphia prize fighter enjoying his brief fame after nearly defeating world heavyweight champion Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers). When Rocky is offered lucrative product endorsement opportunities, his limited education and lack of sophistication quickly become an impediment to his future success, causing him embarrassment and his pregnant wife, Adrian (Talia Shire), a great deal of financial concern. Meanwhile, Creed is brooding over his near loss to a fighter he considers an amateur far beneath him and decides to goad a reluctant Rocky into a high-profile rematch. With the family resources dwindling and his pride wounded, Rocky decides that fighting is all he knows and makes the fateful decision to climb back into the ring once more with Creed to vie for the championship belt, despite assurances from all concerned that he will blind himself irreparably.

this scene is my favorite part of the whole series. Shows so much. Rocks pride gets hurt, so he gets a tad disrespectful. Mick, a former boxer himself, answers in a way Rocky understands. Great scene

1:59 "And that's from a broken down pug like me. What do you think the Champ will do to ya" That made it very clear to Rocky.

I love the air of melancholy that pervades all the Rocky films. Tragedy seems to haunt all the great fighters in the real world and Stallone understood this well.

The most critical part of this scene was cut off . Rocky says to mickey “I don’t know how to say this, I just ..I gotta be around it.”Fighting was his essence.this was a heartfelt scene.

Mickey was a rare breed, Rocky had great actors to play the role APollo, Paulie Clubber, Adrian all actors fit and played there roll and let's not forget Mr Gazzo

Meredith steals every scene in this movie, and has some of the best lines as well.

This scene is brilliant. Well written by Stallone and well acted by Meredith. In a many ways, Rocky II is better film than Rocky I. "Yah got the heart, but yah don't have the tools no more kid." "You didn't even see that com'n and that was from a broke-down pug like me. What do yah think the champ would have done to yah?"

In the first film, Mick throws Rocky out of his locker, then comes calling when he gets a shot at the title. This time it's Rocky coming to Mick, who would rather protect him than jump at another chance to be part of a big fight. This scene cements how close they've become.

i feel like rocky saying "oh yea, we'll maybe its you who dont got it no more" was one of the few times rocky broke character, went away from his genuine demeanor, because he was disappointed. the smack was not only for the disrespectful comment, but for mickey to prove a point. mickey actually cares about him. such a damn good scene.

I love this scene too! Mickey gave some tough love to Rocky, he gave him the truth, he just slapped reality to his face. 😔

Whether you're a big fan of the sequel or not so much, I think Stallone did a good job of writing the sequel (developing the situation Rocky was in during the first film). If there had to be a sequel, then he made a lot of good decisions.
