How to Clean Your MEATER Probe

Показать описание
This is a cleaning video for MEATER probes (for all MEATER products). Dirty probe? Clean it up! A dirty probe can prevent proper charging, which can affect connectivity and range. Even after a light cook with no visible residue, we recommend using baking soda (bicarbonate of soda) along with white vinegar to thoroughly clean the probe. Pay special attention to the flat ambient end. Even an invisible layer of fat build up (polymerization) will also affect charging and connection.
Thanks for watching and Happy Cooking!

Thank you for taking the time to produce a video to assist others in how to clean the meater, Rich. I just use very hot water and bit of elbow grease, i think its a case of keeping on top of it, otherwise it will get grimed up.

Please review your chemistry - mixing vinegar and baking soda neutralizes both chemicals and removes the mild abrasiveness of the baking soda. The resultant chemicals - water, carbon dioxide, and sodium acetate (in solution) don't have any particularly good cleaning capabilities. A functional alternative would be adding a very small amount of water to the baking soda, or simply using the abrasive pad on the sponge.

We don't grill very often so is it safe to leave the probe in the charger? Won't that be constantly charging?

I haven't purchased this system... yet, but I spray my current probes with vegetable oil. This keeps smoke and other thing from sticking to it. Not sure if it would be harmful to this system or not.

It doesn't specify not using the scotch brite side of the sponge on the portion that goes into the meat; however it seems she covers this area with her hand when cleaning. Is this intentional? Would you get micro metal particles in your food if you clean the full length of the probe with the rough side of the sponge? Thanks.

I use a magic eraser and dish soap. That's it.

I have thoroughly cleaned the probe and I still have a flashing red light.

I used my probe 3 times and it won't charge!!!! Very VERY disappointing.. I cleaned it every time and it looks as clean as it can be and still won't charge.
