A little trick I used from having to clean two big flattop grills every night at a restaurant. Use carbonated water. I don’t know exactly why, but the carbonation will cause all that caked on crap to just fall off. They also sell “grill bricks” which are made of a porous material that you can use to scrub the surface without damaging it (steel scrubber will work too but it scratches the surface).

Watching this reminds me of cleaning the flat iron with vinegar and ice chips, in the school resteraunt. Shit still burns my nostrils.

Wow well Done - suggest extra option - get a glass jar of condies crystal & place under your hood when unit is cool - it with absorb any air moisture- you can dry out the crystals latter by heating
You have done such a great job in preparing the plate this may be a help.

I usually just put a little bit of oil on it and clean it that way and then add just enough to lightly cover the top for storage keep it from rusting don’t have a cover yet so it also helps clean before cooking

Add vinegar to the water or use ecolab high temperature grill cleaner (home Depot $14 a gallon)

This is the biggest pain in the butt about having a blackstone. Other than that they rock. Great for a big family breakfast.

Dont forget to mention steam burns, let the steam die down a bit before going gung ho and putting your arms in the steam cloud. Burned myself good before cleaning the blacktop in the resturaunt doing that

Next time put 1/5 lime or lemon juice in 4/5 water in your squeeze bottle, it will lift up that dirt so much easier and cut through the grease super quick. It will get that teriyaki glaze out of there way faster than just plain water, it's what I use at my business flat tops and always works amazing.

P. S Olive oil is better to add at the end because it adds more flavor to the griddle top and when you cook next time with it you'll notice the difference, trust me.

Awesome! The only issue I have with your method is the manufacturer says to never put water on your cast iron. I just got mine seasoned and i used their proprietary black stone seasoning & conditioner. Idk cuz I used to use water on my cast iron pans but they also started to kinda suck after a while and so I’m personally never going to put highly acidic foods and water or soap on my black stone it can just stay dirty it basically just turns to carbon anyways. But what do I know lol

Lemons work well for cleaning flat tops also.
