Just to chime in here, The MEATER really is a great tool. It does what is says which is everything. Once getting setup (shouldn't take too long), it really does do what it claims to do. It broadcasts to your smartphone the DESIRED temperature (that you have set), the CURRENT temperature, and the estimated time it will take to be "ready."

But it gets even better. It also calculates "carry over cooking" which means it tells you when to pull the food item out at a very specific, premature time so that by the time internal/carryover cooking has occurred, you will be exactly at your target temperature. And yes, the MEATER lets you know these details as they occur.

Finally, inputting the desired "goal" for your MEATER is very cool. It has a fairly large database of different meats AND their thermal properties. So, when you start, you simply select the meat type and the desired doneness. But, if you desire, you can always just select a temp manually.

If you are really into cooking, this is worthy of your attention.

Just one word of warning, there is a circle around part of the probe which is at the far end away from where you insert the probe.. That line is there so you know where the temperature gauging part of the probe ends and where the broadcasting transmitter begins. If you don't insert the probe past that line, you could cause damage to the transmitter.

Mine is not very old and I’m having problems with it taking a charge.
The battery is new so I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong or what but the last two cooks started with a low battery alert from it.

I would like to be able to add custom sounds for the alerts. Any thought about adding this feature?

Constant trouble with this thing. Says not close enough when phone, probe, and dock are all right next to each other. Getting ready to just throw this thing out!

Love my MEATER dearly. Should the light come on when the button is pressed and the MEATER is in the charger? It comes on when the button is pressed and it is empty but not when the MEATER is in the charger.

I have no idea if the probe itself is charged or charging. Any indicator of the battery on the probe?

I bought a different brand wireless meat therm. and the temp. was off by 30-40 degrees. After research, their probe was a little over 5 inches in total length, and their probe sensor was 1.5 inches below the tip. When I cooked a prime rib on the weber, the temps were way off because the sensor part of the probe was toward the outside of the meat, not the tip which should be in the center of the roast, and I could not insert any further. So can anyone respond about the Meater Plus not having the same issue as it appears to be a little over 5 inches (130mm) in total length as well?

Yesterday I was smoking a chicken in cookshack smoker using the cookshack integrated ambient probe at 200° and the meater probe was spot on with the cookshack integraded probe until at the 2 hour and 10 minute mark, the meater probes ambient temperature for some reason dropped down to 175° there was no change or difference in the internal meat temp between the two probes, just the ambient temp. Any suggestions?

Can leave the meater charger on the fridge or do I have to have it close to the actual probe.

Is Meater 2 compatible with 5 Ghz band wifi? I purchased a Meater and could not get it to connect to wifi router. I ended up returning it. The only reason for spending $300 for a meat thermometer is to be able to leave the house and be able to monitor my cook. I can monitor my cook with a cheaper less sophisticated meat thermometer from home.

My meater came with Fahrenheit. I don’t do that barbaric method. But I can’t find the way to change to Celsius. Please let me know how to change. Thanks

You said it comes with a rechargeable battery. Mine says Alkaline. Can we use a rechargeable and charge it outside the case and then put it back in?

If using two meaters, how do you tell which meater is which in the food? If one is in a leg and one is in a breast? a number 1 or 2 on the probes and chargers would be good or am i missing something

I just bought it and the software and set up is terrible . Why do I need to log on to a simple device and it does not recognize when I have agreed to the terms and conditions .
