"Now I confidently say that whosoever calls himself, or desires to be called, Universal Priest, is in his elation the precursor of Antichrist, because he proudly puts himself above all others."
- Pope Gregory the Great - defender of Orthodoxy (or as he is known in the Orthodox Church, Saint Gregory the Dialogist; Book VII: Epistle XXXIII)

It is true...

I am a Christian, who wants to become Orthodox, a former Catholic from Indonesia...

I became really irritated at how heretical Catholicism has become and how so many of their priests are simply lazy pastors, abandoning their sheep, and living over scandals.

I have just realized the authenticity of the Orthodox faith a few months ago, and I want to prepare myself to become a part of it. Please pray for me

The main differences between Orthodox Christianity and Roman Catholicism. the main things which keep our religions separate are:

Papal Supremacy, Papal Infallibility, The Filioque, Absolute Divine Simplicity, Created Grace Doctrine, natural theology, scholasticism, Original sin, sacred heart doctrine, Immaculate conception, Purgatory, Merits/Indulgences, evolution of Dogma, imaginative prayer, "beatific vision" etc

Then the Forced Celibacy of Priests, The use of Unleavened Bread in the Eucharist, The Adoption and change of the Christian calendar, The use of Renaissance statues, Pews, Child Communion, improper non immersion baptism, Cardinals, and differences in liturgical practices (Alter tables, Iconostasis, priest positioning etc)

all of those things, we say the Western Church adopted and innovated and became heretical when they adopted these things.

And we say that in the early church NONE of these things existed, there is no evidence of these things.

No examples of Papal Infallibility, No examples of merits/indulgences, and no examples of unleavened wafer bread, and such.

In fact in the west, In Rome. It looked a lot similar to how we Orthodox exist today. Our priests can get married, we use Icons and not statues, we use the old calendar etc

Orthodoxy Vs Roman Catholicism:

Energy Essence Distinction vs Absolute Divine Simplicity
Ancestral Sin vs Original Sin
Non Filioque Trinity vs Filioque Trinity
Patriarchy vs Papacy
Revealed Theology vs Natural Theology
Hesychasm Vs Scholasticism
Theosis vs Sanctification
Married Priest vs Celibate Priests
Infant Communion Vs Non Infant Communion
Iconography vs Statues
Full Immersion Baptism vs Sprinkle Baptism
One Baptism vs Confirmation Baptism
Leavened Communion Bread vs Unleavened Communion bread
Julian Calendar vs Pope Gregory's Calendar

We are not the same Religion, we do not have the same faith, and anyone who looks into either religions genuinely will see how different we are.

This is straight from Wikipedia so i am happy to be corrected: "In Catholic canon law, a vicar is the representative of any ecclesiastic entity. The Romans had used the term to describe officials subordinate to the praetorian prefects. In the early Christian churches, bishops likewise had their vicars, such as the archdeacons and archpriests, and also the rural priest, the curate who had the cure or care of all the souls outside the episcopal cities. The position of the Roman Catholic vicar as it evolved is sketched in the Catholic Encyclopedia (1908)."

I'm Orthodox so I'm not attempting to argue but I am very puzzled at the assertion that a vicar does not exist unless the master is dead. I have always thought a vicar was another word for a pastor or minister so I had to look it up and while I was incorrect, it seems that they are deputies for bishops so I'm still puzzled as to why that implies the bishop, or indeed Christ in the case of the pope, must be deceased.

This is not what a vicar is. A vicar is simply one who acts in the person of another. The term "viceroyal" derives from this and was used by Spain as the title for administrators of overseas colonies of Spain (who act in the person of the monarch). There is no reason to posit a vicar can only act in the person of a dead person.

Horrible argument. Why do we need bishops if we have the true bishop, Christ?

vicars exist all over the world with a Master alive. Do some research.

Where are you getting the definition that the Vicar only exists if the Master is dead? I have always heard it is when the Master is away.

And now you dont have a primus inter pares, and you are not able to have a council where all bishops gather and agree upon things. There are a lot of superstitions and worldly traditions that have developed in different orthodox regions, and less and less spiritual food for the people! Who taught you or gave you the authority to teach that a believer is allowed to remarry after a divorce 3 times?! And how can you stop the spiritual corruption of this teaching? Romania's population is approx 90% orthodox. There is a big bulky orthodox church every second street you walk on. Yet Romania is number one in abortion rate in Europe. Russia, mother of Orthodoxy, holds the third position in divorce rates!

Yet Christ said to Peter alone: on this Rock I will build my Church; and to Peter alone three times: if you love me, pasture my lambs, tend my sheep, feed my sheep. But now the sheep have a pride of their own, and have become their own shepherds. This pride is clearly to be seen on their living, priests, communities.

"the vicar does not exist unless the master is dead" - an astounding leap of logic that defies any explanation, so I can see why you didn't offer any support of the statement. The Roman Catholic Church is the House of Christ.

Funnily even the fathers call the pope of Rome the Vicar of Christ. Falsehood without lies cannot exist. Greeks are doublesworded

Orthodox for 4 seconds challenge (level: impossible)

I love the Eastern rites, but Orthodoxy’s obsessive focus on identifying themselves separate from Catholicism (every chance they get it seems) is hurting their charity
